Know Your Nuns - Pro-life v Pro-abortion Dominican Edition

1st we have a real Dominican from the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. Like all her fellow Domincans in her convent, she is faithful to the Catholic Magisterium, wears a habit & stands up for the unborn. 

Next we have a dissident from the infamous Sinsinawa Dominicans that I have reported on several times before. She does not wear a habit, has worked as an abortion clinic escort, until I helped force her to stop, & has spoken out in favor of gay marriage. In short, like most of her fellow Sinsinawa Dominicans, she is doing her best to undermine the Catholic Magisterial teachings & lead souls to Hell.

When Confronted With the Truth, Liberal Catholycs Attack With Lies & Personal Attacks

On 2 March, my latest letter to the TH on the heretical goings on involving the Sinsinawa Dominicans appeared. I wrote a post about it here. It didn't take long for the attacks to begin, not only om what I said, but me personally. Most of them were in the comments section of the letter on the TH website. But a few days later I got a letter in the mail. I suspected it might be in response to the TH letter when there was NO return address. When I opened it I found a clipping as well as a letter. I quickly scanned the letter to see if it was signed., As expected it wasn't. So I didn't bother to go back to read the letter or the notes made on the clipping from the Non-Catholic Reporter. I didn't bother with reading the article either. All I noticed was that the article was an attack piece on those who were involved with the LCWR investigation. I did notice 2 things as I scanned the letter. It was at the start where it refered to a "well known catholic newspaper". As I said, that paper was the Distorter that the article was taken from. The rest is from the last line where I was called judgmental as well as a coward if I didn't write something about the priests scandal as well.

I had to laugh at being called a coward. I am the one who stood up & spoke out. Yet she wasn't willing to sign her name. I say her name because I did notice she said that she & her husband would be watching me. Notice, it was worded in the form of a threat.

Well, the next Saturday, the next salvo came in the form of the following letter written in response to mine. Note: I am intentionally leaving his name out, even though I wouldn't have to. But I do wonder if it was his wife that wrote the unsigned letter.

 

"I was disappointed to read Allen Troupe's letter (March 2) demonizing Sister Donna Quinn's effort to modernize the current state of the Catholic Church.

It seems many young adults are presently turning away from the Catholic Church because of its refusal to update its ultraconservative views of the world.

Women still cannot stand in front of a Catholic congregation and say a Mass, even though they equally devote their lives to God. Last year, the pope railed against gay marriage. He stated his views may be "counter-cultural" to younger generations.

You know there's a serious disconnect between Church leaders and the fundamental principles of a Christian-based religion when the leaders call social justice and equal rights "counter-cultural."

And what is the basis for the Vatican not allowing social justice? "Tradition," of course.

Jesus modernized the Jewish faith by updating the rigid traditional rules set forth in the Old Testament, proving that the way we practice our faith and religion can evolve and change.

I will continue to support people such as Sister Donna Quinn and Father Roy Bourgeois, who devote their lives to fight for social justice based on the principles of Jesus Christ, even though their own Church ignores them.

It is 2013 and the new leader of the Catholic Church is going to be chosen by an electorate of old, white, ultraconservative men. Change is clearly not going to be coming from the inside, so how about we start supporting a change from the outside?"

 Since the letter was signed, I decided to privately respond to him. The letter is below. As you will notice, I pointed out he is the one who is actually doing the demonizing, not me. In addition, I pointed out that he lied about me stating my views were countercultural to younger generations.
That I was attacked & that he deliberately lied about what I said is no surprize. This same thing happened to me in January when my previous letter to the TH about the goings on at Sinisinawa appeared.
I honestly do not expect a reply from him. I have yet to hear a reply from that priest to the letter I sent him. These people do not want an honest conversation. They just want to destroy the Catholic Church. & they will do so by any means possible. However, as I pointed out, they will fail, as all attempts in the past have failed.

"I am writing this in response to the letter that appeared in the 9 March 2013 issue of the Telegraph Herald.
You began by accusing me of "demonizing" Sr. Donna Quinn's efforts. Over the years I have seen that when a liberal uses that term, it means that the person so labeled is actually the one being demonized. The reason for doing so is because that person has hit the nail on the head when it comes to telling the truth. Thus instead of admitting that what  he said is true, the speaker of the truth is attacked in an effort to destroy his reputation.   Since this is one of the big guns used by liberals & the left to do harm to the truth teller, I feel like I have arrived in the big leagues. I am humbled that God has so used me that I am attacked this way. This attack on me for speaking up is a blessing of the type   mentioned in Matthew 5:11-12.
I stand by my claim that what Sr. Donna is doing, aided & abetted in doing by the Sinsinawa Dominican leadership, IS heresy. Heresy is "the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith." (Catechism 2089). The Catholic Church has taught from the beginning that abortion is a sin, that marriage is only between a man and a woman & that only men (vir) can be ordained priests. These truths cannot be denied without falling into heresy.
By saying that she is attempting to "modernize" the Church you have also admitted that she is promoting the heresy of modernism that was condemned by Pope St. Pius X in his encyclical "Pascendi".
As for your claim that it "seems many young adults are presently turning away from the Catholic Church", the facts present a different picture. When I worked at a college, I saw a hunger for the truths of the Catholic Church, not a turning away because those     views were what you labeled "ultraconservative". They welcomed what the Church teaches. The huge number of young adults and teens at last January's March for Life is proof of that. Those facts were ignored by the pro-abortion media because it didn't fit into their agenda of attacking the Catholic Church.
Additionally, I saw an upswing in the desire for Eucharistic adoration among those college aged people.
As for vocations, unlike the Sinsinawa Dominicans, the numbers are up for those Women's religious orders that are supportive of the Church's teachings. Two examples, among many, are the Nashville Dominicans and the Ann Arbor Dominicans.
There is also an upswing in vocations to men's religious orders as well. These vocations are not only to orders that do the Novus Ordo reverently, but to groups like the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter as well. Additionally the number of young men who have vocations to the diocesan priesthood is up as well.
I also see plenty of young adults at the parish I attend who embrace those teachings. Many of them are married with families of 3, 4, 5 or more children.
You out and out lied when you claimed I said that I stated in the letter I wrote that my   views may be "counter-cultural" to those young adults. I said no such thing, about young adults, or Catholics in general. The term appeared nowhere in my letter, in any context & you knew it when you wrote what you did. But, since you brought it up, may I point out that the Catholic Church has been counter-cultural from the beginning. It hasalways stood up, called sin. It has refused to bow to the dictates of those in charge, whether it be to worship the Roman emperor as a god or allow abortions.
You are right about one thing. The Catholic Church will never change from within. The Holy Spirit will ensure that, as well as protect it from attacks from without. That can be seen by the failed attempts of everyone from the Gnostics, to the Arians up to the modernists to do so from within. Additionally we can look & see the same result from those attacking from without, that includes people like Nero, Hitler, Stalin & many others down through the centuries.
Whether it is Sr. Donna or Ray Bourgeous or supporters of their heresies, like you, your actions are NOT based on the principles of Jesus Christ. In fact they are in opposition to them. Jesus' principles were based on the unchanging Divine truths He proclaimed. What you are doing is an attempt to destroy those principles as well as deny the truths behind them.
As an aside, I have a copy of the "Compendium of Social Doctrine of the Church" that  contains what the Catholic Church actually teaches on social justice. I have & will continue to devote time to studying that compendium as well as the "Catechism of the  Catholic Church" so I can grow in my knowledge of the magisterial teachings of the Church as well as more fully live them out.
Might I suggest you that you join a church that embraces your views? The Episcopal Church could use some new members as they have seen a huge decline of 1/3 of their  membership over the last 3 decades or so. A huge part of that decline has been because of their embracing the very things you want the Catholic Church to embrace. Many of   those individuals who left as well as many of the parishes have joined the Catholic Church because we still hold to those teachings you attack. This has happened not only  in America, but elsewhere in the Anglican communion as well. While we have yet to see a whole Episcopal/Anglican diocese seek to reunite with the Catholic Church, I   suspect the day where that happens is not very far off.
While there is so much more I could respond to, I will end by saying that I am praying   that the Holy Spirit will open your (& the Sinsinawa Dominicans) eyes to the truths He has revealed through the Church. Also that you will open your hearts, receive them & reject those heretical viewpoints you now hold. That prayer has included offering up the Mass I attended last Sunday as well as spending time at the 2 Adoration Chapels in the area praying for you as well.

Please pray for these people, that they will see & accept the truth, before it is too late.
Additionally, I am not writing this for any sympathy or glory. All I am doing is trying to educate those who are not aware of the liberal Catholics in Name Only tactics. Hopefully, I will also give you some ideas of how to respond in a respectful manner while standing up for the truth as well.

Calling Out the Sinsinawa Dominicans On Their Heresies

 The other day I put up a post about the latest heretical goings on with a member of the Sinsinawa Domincans, that hotbed of heresy. As I said, it once again involved Sr. Donna Quinn, abortion promoter, gay marriage supporter & supporter of women being ordained priests among her many projects. These are all things she publicly does with the support of her convent's leadership.

I also mentioned in the post that I was sent a letter to the editor to the TH. The next morning I got a call from the paper to confirm I wrote it. The letter appeared in today's edition. It got printed as I wrote it (text below) with 1 small change that was understandable. Instead of "This morning (27 Feb)", line was changed to read "On the morning of February 27". Like I said, that is understandable given it is now 2 March.

I was pleasantly pleased by the title they gave to my letter:

Dominicans should get back in line with Church doctrine

I am sure that didn't sit too well with the leadership at Sinsinawa. I highly doubt they will like me calling them heretical either. 

In doing a little research to try & find a video of Sr. Donna's appearance on CNN I came across a video of an appearance she made in 2012 as a member of "Clergy for Choice" at a Planned Parenthood OCSB gathering. N ever mind that religious sisters are NOT clergy. It is clear she is being allowed to be vocal in her support of abortion by the convent's leadership despite the scandal of her being an abortion clinic.  This  is going on despite their claims back in 2009 they would resolve the matter appropriately. I do have to say that for them, appropriately is making it look like they are doing something to the public while continuing to allow her to cause scandal instead. In short appropriately resolving it includes lies & misdirection.

It will be interesting to see the reaction this time as my previous letter in December resulted in a couple of supporters publicly defaming me in the paper, one of whom was a priest of the DBQ Archdiocese.

Still, no matter what they may, or may not do this time around, I know that they are not happy with my crusade to make public the scandalous actions going on there. Those actions are clearly causing grave spiritual harm, not only to themselves, but to those who see them & think that the evil they condone is OK.

May God have mercy on them. May they repent before it is too late & they find out that they are "undoubtedly lost forever."

"It saddens me to see that once again a Sinsinawa Dominican is doing her best to undermine the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church, with the approval of the convent's leadership.

This morning (27 Feb) Sr. Donna Quinn appeared on CNN to attack the Catholic Church's teachings by demanding that a woman be on "the ballot" for the election of the next Pope or it will be an invalid election. 

This isn't about a woman on the ballot, this is about attacking the Church's teachings on abortion, gay marriage & women's ordination, things that she has publicly pushed for, & allowed to do without any penalty by Sinsinawa's leadership. 

Their lack of action, despite her frequently causing public scandal, can only be read as the leadership's approval of her heretical views. 

The leaders are responsible for ensuring the sisters are faithful to their vows.. Part of that faithfulness requires every sister to uphold, not undermine, the teachings of the Church. 

Their inaction tells others these views contrary to the Catholic faith are acceptable, encouraging them to reject the truth. This puts their souls at risk of eternal damnation. 

As the Athanasian creed explains: "Whoever wishes to be saved must, above all, keep the Catholic faith. For unless a person keeps this faith whole and entire he will undoubtedly be lost forever." 

That isn't me speaking, that is the Church speaking the truth so that people will be saved from hell.

I call on the Sinsinawa leadership to end this scandal now."

Abortion Nun, Sr. Donna, Now Spreading Her Heresies on National (Sort Of) News

Once again the infamous Sr. Donna Quinn who is a Sinsinawa Dominican is in the news. As I have reported in the past, she has been an escort at an abortion clinic as well as publicly promoting gay marriage. But usually the attention has been limited to local or regional coverage. This time she got a national, sort or, platform to promote her attempts to undermine the Catholic Church's teachings. I say sort of because she appeared this morning on CNN Newsroom. Their average daytime viewership is only 424,000 in the

latest ratings. That is less than the population of Wyoming.

In her appearance she demanded that a woman be on the ballot as well as women being allowed to vote.

Here is a direct quote: "We women are calling this papal election invalid. It has to be declared fraudulent because it has no women included in the process. By that I mean there are no women on the ballot in the conclave, there are no women voters, there are no women in the whole process, so we're very distressed."

She went on make it sound like every young woman who is Catholic agrees with her stand.  "You know, young women today, they don't respect the church. They don't go to church. They are bright, articulate, intelligent women. They know they are made in the image and likeness of God, and they hold CEO positions, elected office positions, but they are saying no to gender abuse."

Probably the most hilarious part of Sr. Donna's rantings was the claim that in 2005 women had gathered in front of all the cathedrals in the United States to send up pink smoke to symbolize their disapproval of Papa Benedetto's election. Funny, but I don't remember that happening. 

Amazingly, the host, Carol Costello called her on one of her claims, that she was speaking for all Catholic women, especially all nuns. "Let me just interrupt you for a second. You have a very liberal view there and I'm sure many nuns feel the way do, you but not all of them."

But rather than explaining why they didn't feel the same way or having someone on the show to defend the Church's teachings & why Sr. Donna was wrong, Costello went to their Vatican analyst, John Allen. He simply said that change wasn't going to happen. In addition he made it sound like the Church was the one who had the problem with women because of their stands, not that these women had a problem because they were rebelling against Divine truth as revealed in the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.
You can be sure this was intentional on the part of CNN as they agree with Sr. Donna's stand.
Despite the claims by John Allen, women are welcome & do have a place in the Catholic Church, the one God intended for them. These women who are rebelling are revealing who they are truly following, Satan, the father of lies. He rebelled against God's plan & tried to set himself up as God. That is exactly what these women & those at CNN & elsewhere who support their dissent are doing, following Satan's example. It didn't work for Satan & it won't work for them.

PS: I sent a letter in to the TH about this. It will be interesting to see if the publish it & if they do, if they will do the same dirty trick they did last time, publishing a story then making it look like my letter was a reaction to that story rather than the catalyst that forced them to report the latest scandal at Sinsinawa.

Is The Daily Beast Serious About Using This Picture to Depict the Dissident Nuns They Are Extolling?

The Daily Beast has an article about how ever Catholic Nun in the USA wants the next Pope to be "sister friendly" & give them a "fair shake" instead of clamping down on them like the evil Pope Benedict did. Here is the picture they used to depict the nuns they were referring to:

Are they serious?????

1st of all, the article makes it sound like every sister wants what the Leadership Council of Women Religious (LCWR) wants. They do admit the LCWR represents 80% of American women religious. But, as I said, they make it sound like the LCWR represents the mindset of the other 20% as well.

What the article fails to mention is that the LCWR doesn't even speak for every sister in the orders that belong, let alone all American women religious. 

But what really gets me is how they have to use a picture of women religious in their habits to depict those they claim are being persecuted. Maybe it is because they know that if they show the LCWR gang as they really are, people will think they are just a bunch of grannies, not real nuns. 

Also, notice that the picture was taken in front of the Vatican. Odds on are this group of Franciscans is from an order that is faithful to the Magisterium of the Church, not a group promoting heresy & dissent like the LCWR does.

Another fraud in the article is the claim that women are leaving the Church. Maybe those who share the dissent & heresies condemned by the Catholic Church. But not the young women that the article claims are leaving. What the article fails to mention is that those orders that compromise the 20% usually wear habits, have plenty of vocations, almost all young women, & thus are growing in numbers. Meanwhile the LCWR convents are dying from a lack of vocations for the very reasons they claim they are being persecuted for.

Finally the article ends with a statement from one of those dissident nuns, a Sr. Florence Deacon. In it she asks the Cardinals in the conclave to capture the "spirit" that was at Vatican II. She had gone into greater detail earlier in the article about what she thinks this spirit is. It is clear that she doesn't mean the real "Spirit of Vatican II". If she did, then the next Pope will continue to work to clean up the problems in the LCWR instead of embracing the false "Spirit of Vatican II" that they embrace. What he will do is continue the exorcism of that false spirit. That Pope will look at what the documents actually said, not how she misinterprets them. When he does do what he can to give the proper interpretation, they will long for the days of Papa Benedetto, calling them the good old days.

How Liberal Catholycs Demonize Those Who Shine the Light of God's Truth On What They Are Doing

A while ago I put up a post about my letter to the editor looking at the goings on with 2 of the Sinsinawa Dominicans & Bishop Morlino of Madison. Well a little over a week later a letter appeared in the TH that was written by 2 people connected with Sinsinawa. I recognized the name of 1 person. He was a retired priest from the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The other person, a female, was unknown to me.

The letter purported to be an invitation to dialog. However, as you will see, it was anything but. 

Note: I am intentionally leaving the names out. I do not want this to be a personal attack on the writers as their letter was with me. Rather this is meant to be a prime example of how the average dissident "Catholic in Name Only" operates. They claim to be tolerant of others & willing to discuss things. But when you shine the light of truth on them, then they become very intolerant & do all they can to demonize the person who has shown them up for what they are, operating in darkness, not the light of God's truth.

I decided to respond privately to 1 of the authors, the priest. I am fairly sure he knows who I am, as well as what I stand for. In it I challenged his claims, showing them up for the attempt to destroy my reputation that they were. I did so in a way that was not condemnatory, but straightforward. But most importantly, I ended by telling him that I was putting him in the hands of God's Divine Mercy.  

Here is the letter they wrote:

"Letter: Critical of Dominican sisters? Let's talk about it

A letter to the editor by Allen Troupe ("Good move against Sinsinawa Dominicans," Dec. 28) criticized, in many generalizations, the Dominican sisters, who have defended two members of their order who are involved in social concern for those who seek help for certain spiritual needs.

He suggested that there was defenseless guilt on their part for doing good.

Many of us live here at Sinsinawa Mound -- lay people, priests and Dominican sisters. We find the sisters very hospitable, kind, orthodox, friendly, creative and open to personal discussion.

We invite the afore-mentioned letter writer and anyone else to come share a cup of coffee, respectful discussion and informed insights on the work of two Dominican sisters who have been very unkindly publicly treated without stated, pointed reason.

Just come on any Friday at 9:30 a.m. or Wednesday at 6 p.m. We gather in the common room of Academy Apartments (lower level) Sinsinawa Mound. If you are in any way unsure about such an open invitation, call for details at 608-xxx-xxxx or 563-xxx-xxxx.

Friendly discussion is much better than bitter, uninformed, critical letter writing. The coffee is free and the company is welcoming."

Anyone who is familiar with the tactics of liberals, Catholycs or otherwise, will see many of their usual tactics in this letter. 
Here is the letter I wrote back to Father. You will see what I honestly think of his claim that this was an attempt to open dialog as well as as why what he said was untrue.

" I am writing this to tell you how disappointed I was that you chose to publicly attack me in the letter you co-wrote that was printed in the Telegraph Herald on 7 January 2013. I know that you wrote it under the guise of inviting me to dialog. But  if you were sincere about real dialog you would have contacted me personally rather than use a letter to the editor.

It is apparent that your real intention was to use the letter as a personal attack on my reputation in order to undermine it as well as what I said. You had no basis to say that I was bitter or misinformed, either from the letter or elsewhere. Additionally, your claim that the sisters you know at Sinsinawa are all orthodox was a subtle way of calling Bishop Morlino as well as myself liars.I should start out by saying that rather than making me angry, it brought to mind what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are you when men revile you. . . and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad for great is your reward in heaven.” (Matthew 5:11-12)
I am anything but bitter. Like all you strive for authentic sanctity, I do have struggles and trials. However, I follow St. Paul’s admonition to count all things as joy as well as to always rejoice in the Lord.
I have to admit that I am puzzled at your claim that my letter was full of generalizations. I quoted from the Madison Diocesan letter that stated what their concerns were. I also quoted from the response put out by the spokesperson for the convent. I would have used more detail, but as you well know, I was limited to 250 words. In short, the claim about generalizations was disingenuous at best.
You also know that I am not misinformed. But let me make it clear that I am anything but misinformed.
To begin with, I know what the proper role of a Bishop is. I know this in huge part from my study of Catholic teachings, including the Catechism as well as the Compendium of Social Doctrine of the Church. Additionally, I have faithfully prayed the Liturgy of the Hours since 1989, including the office of readings. The second reading regular talks about what the pastoral duties of a Bishop &/or priest are. That is why I stand by what I said, Bishop Morlino was defending his flock against those wolves that Jesus warned about in Matthew 7:15.
As for my knowledge of what New Age beliefs & practices are, I have been researching the New Age Movement since the mid-1980s. I have read many books & articles by Catholic & Protestant authors that show how they are at variance with authentic Christianity. One of my sources is Fr. Mitch Pacwa. He was one of the primary sources cited in the Vatican document on the New Age, Jesus, the Bearer of the Water of Life.  I should add that I have met & talked with Fr. Mitch. Also, that I have an autographed copy of his book on Catholics & the New Age.
Before I wrote the letter, I checked out the website for Wisdom’s Well. I saw for myself that they were promoting New Age ideas. It wasn’t until after I looked at the website that I read the synopsis put out by the Madison diocese. I want to add that I found the synopsis to be an excellent summary of what the New Age movement is as well as documenting those specifics about New Age practices that are being promoted by those who are a part of Wisdom’s well.
Clearly, what those Sinsinawa Dominicans are promoting is anything but orthodox. This doesn’t surprise me because of my past experiences with the Sinsinawa Dominicans.
Many times over the past few years I have checked out their website. On it I have regularly found links to groups like NETWORK that promote things contrary to orthodox Catholic teaching.
Then there is Sr. Donna Quinn. I am very familiar with her activities, going back to the time of her materially cooperating in abortion by working as an abortion clinic escort. I am also aware of her current activities. In particular I am referring to her recent speaking out in support of gay marriage & her public attack of Cardinal George for defending orthodox Catholic teaching on what marriage is meant by God to be.
Add to all this the support by the leadership at Sinsinawa for all these activities by their failure to correct those sisters for going counter to what the Catholic Church asks of its religious to say & do. It is very obvious that there is little orthodoxy at Sinsinawa.
I would be willing to enter into a sincere dialog, but given my past experience in 2009 when my letter about Sr. Donna appeared in the TH, I suspect it would be more of another attempt to justify the evil being done rather than a sincere search for the truth on your part.
I could ask for the reparative justice due to me for the harm your letter has done to my reputation by calling on you to put something in the TH correcting the false claims you made as well as having you admit it was done to harm my reputation. Instead, I will simply leave you to God’s Divine Mercy, asking Him to forgive you & have mercy on you for your attempts to justify dissent from the Magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church."

I highly doubt that I will get an honest response, or any response, from him. As I said, he knew beforehand that his letter was a personal attack on me. He knew full well that my letter was based on what Bishop Morlino had pointedly explained exactly what they had done wrong. & that those Dominican sisters had been shown for what they truly are, wolves in sheep's clothing.
What he was doing, besides attacking my reputation falsely with an aim to destroying it, was to make those sisters sound like victims, which they weren't. He knows that they are guilty of promoting heretical views, views I suspect he buys into himself. I would bet on it, in fact.
I could have said so much more in the letter, like how much his public lying was a betrayal of his vows he took at ordination. But I knew that it would do no good. Instead, I call on everyone to pray for the letter writers, as well as the Sinsinawa Dominicans to Venerable Samuel Mazzuchelli who founded the convent. Ask him to plead to God to send the Holy Spirit upon them to open their eyes to the wrongs they are doing, lead them to sincere repentance, & a return to the fold of faithful Catholics.
Meanwhile, I will not be silenced from speaking out the truth. I will shine God's light on the darkness they are doing as best I can. & should I end up dialoging with them, not likely, you can be sure that I won't go there alone to be ganged up on, as they would like.

Sr. Donna, the Pro-Abortion Dominican Now Promoting Gay Marriage

   

You would think that the Sinsinawa Dominicans would have learned their lesson by now, that any dissent from the Magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church will only get them in more trouble. But if you did, you would be wrong, those who dissent have set themselves up as the only absolute source of truth while claiming all truth is relative.

That is why they think they can present themselves as good Catholics as well as doing what goes against that very Church they claim to belong to.

As you may be aware, I have recently been involved in getting the information out about how some members of the convent are promoting New Age Heresies. Just yesterday, I was attacked in a letter to the Editor for doing so. I will say more about that in a future post. For now, all I will say is that 1 of the claims made by the authors was that the sisters they knew were "orthodox" in their beliefs. Since they live near the convent & are regularly active in events there, you can be sure they know those pushing the heresies as well as the infamous Sr. Donna, the nun who was outed as an abortion clinic escort in 2009. I use the word outed intentionally. That is because she is in the news again, this time promoting gay marriage.  She is advocating in favor of the gay marriage bill in the Illinois legislature.
She has even condemned Cardinal George for explaining why this is against natural law.
I am willing to bet that rather than being corrected, she will once again be applauded by the majority of those in her convent, as well as the authors of the letter I mentioned.
This is one more proof that the recent findings of the Vatican visitation/ investigation of the LCWR was right in their findings & calling for reform in the organization as well as individual order.
Sr. Donna's defiant  stand not only goes against what Cardinal George , it goes against a letter sent out by Bishop Malloy of the Rockford Diocese & a letter sent out by Bishop Paprocki of Springfield, IL. All 3 Bishops have spoken up in defense of authentic Catholic teaching on marriage, just as they should.
May God have mercy on her & may the Holy Spirit their convict her & her fellow sisters of their errors & lead them back to the arms of Holy Mother Church.

Things That Made Baby Jesus Cry in 2012

It is time for my 3rd Annual look at things that made Baby Jesus cry over the past year. Normally, I have done this on the last day of the year, but didn't get around it until today. As I thought about who to include, I couldn't help but think of the line from Casablanca where  Captain Louis Renault says "Round up the usual suspects!"

 

So that is exactly what I did, round them up.
I am sure that those included will be of no surprize to faithful Catholics who have been scandalized by their actions. & may I remind these dissidents, not that they care, that their scandals are a sin against the 5th Commandmant "Thou shalt not kill."

 

1. Obviously, this has to be the Obama administration's pushing of HHS Mandate attack on the 1st amendment protection of religious liberty. This mandate will force every Catholic institution to provide for artificial birth control coverage as a part of their insurance plans. Many of those types of artificial birth control are abortafaceants as well. In addition, this attack is on those of other faiths as well who will be forced to provide coverage for things that go against their faith (re: Hobby Lobby for example.) 

2. While we are on the subject of the Obama Administration, let us not forget all those Democrats 1st while claiming to be good Catholics in the Administration as well as the US Congress that gave their full support to the mandate, as well as Planned Parenthood & abortion. The list includes VP Joe Biden, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, his wife Christie Vilsack who ran for the House of Representatives for the 4th District in Iowa (Thank God she lost), Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi & way too many others to list.

3. This leads me to the Nuns on the Bus, especially Sr.Simone Campbell. It was bad enough that they went arround the country claiming that they knew better than Bishop Morlino as to what made up authentic application of Catholic Social teaching in Paul Ryan's budget. Bishop Morlino & other Bishops made it clear that his budget met the prudential judgment standard. They tried to make it sound like the USCCB had officially condemned it rather than making it clear that this statement was from 1 of the Bishops as head of his committee, Bishop Blaire.

She failed to point out that the statement was not a magesterial teaching. To do so would show her dissent from authentic teaching as well as that of the other LCWR gang who were involved in the Nuns on the Bus campaign. (Don't worry, more about the LCWR later.) Sr Simone made it clear in June that ObamaCare was pro-life, despite it's promoting of artificial birth control & abortion. She was 1 of the speakers at the 2012 Democratic Convention that had only pro-abortion speakers at the podium. 

4. Next up we have the Leadership Council of Women Religious (LCWR) & their defiance of the Vatican despite the proof found by the Vatican investigation that they are promoting heresy. 1 of the groups they were criticized for supporting was NETWORK. This group claims to be Catholic but supports ObamaCare, including abortion. NETWORK was a sponsor of the Nuns on the Bus. I have put up several posts about the LCWR dissent so no need to go into major detail here. Just repeat that they are blatently undermining the magesterial teachings of the Catholic Church as well as supporting New Age teachings among other things. & to top it off they lied about the process, ignoring their unwillingness to cooperate. They also criticizing the attempt by the Vatican to protect those Nuns who feared retribution becaue they spoke out about their concerns. The LCWR forgot to mention that was what the alledged secrecy was actually about.

5. As long as we are on dissident nuns let us not forget the head of the Catholic Health Association, Sr. Carol Keehan. Last June she applauded the Supreme Court upholding ObamaCare. But that was not surprizing as she supported the passage of it in the 1st place without criticism of its pro- abortion, pro-birth control sections. She took this stand in defiance of the USCCB & enabled those supporting ObamaCare to undermine the USCCB's efforts to protect the religious rights of the Church & individuals.

6. Catholics United, for telling the US Bishops to shut up rather than defending the Catholic Church's teachings from attack by the Obama Administration. They also want the Catholic Church to shut up about abortion being wrong & why it is a sin to vote for candidates that support abortion. Then, lest we forget, they feel the same way when a deacon, priest or Bishop speaks out against gay marriage.

7. National Catholic Reporter, aka the National Catholic Fishwrap, aka the Non-Catholic Reporter (Non-CR), for their innumerable articles, columns etc that attacks the Pope, the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church & promoted dissent & heresy.

8. Melinda Gates makes the list for claiming to be a good Catholic while promoting population control, artificial birth control & abortion through the Gates Foundation she heads with her husband, Bill.

9. Those Catholics who voted for Obama & other Pro-abortion Democrats in the November election.

 

You may have noticed how some names & groups kept popping up throughout the list. This should be no surprize as they are all working toward destroying the Church founded by Jesus Christ. In fact, if I went into more detail, I could make this look like a version of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon called 6 degrees of Catholic dissent.  In fact, I can do it very simply by pointing out that somewhere in the past years issues of the Non-CR you will find at least 1 article about all of the things I mentioned.
1 other thing I am willing to bet, most of those on the list will do their best to make my 2013 list as well.

The Timing of Publishing My Latest Letter in the TH Seems a Little Fishy

On Tuesday, 11 December 2012, I put up a post about Bishop Morlino of Madison banning 2 Sinsinawa Dominicans who are big promoters of New Age heresies from speaking in the diocese. The next day I wrote a letter to the editor of the Telegraph Herald via their website. That same day, I received a call from a TH employee to confirm it. But since I wasn't at home at the time she called I had to wait until Thursday (13 Dec) to reply.

Normally, when a letter is written it appears within a few days (3-4) after they confirm you wrote it. So when the letter didn't appear by the 17th December, I figured they weren't going to publish it.

Meanwhile, on 19 December, lo & behold, an article on the Bishop's ban appeared in the TH. Unlike the original article in the Madison paper, said almost nothing about why they were banned. The TH article also fails to mention that the ban was promulgated 27 November 2012 & that it was made public more than a week before the TH reported the story.

I am not saying that this is any more than the usual poor reporting done by the paper to make it looks like they are providing good coverage. But then something else happenned to make me suspicious that the TH was trying to cover-up their lack of timeliness on the coverage of the story, that the TH article was mostly a rewrite of the Madison story & the fact that I scooped them by a whole week.

The event I am refering to is that my letter was finally published in the paper yesterday (28 December 2012). You can read the text below.

Now why did they sit on this letter for over 2 weeks? I suspect that part of the reason was to make it look like my letter was in response to their article. If they had published before their story appeared, I would have made them look bad as I said. Also, it would have given my view of the events the chance to be heard 1st. The TH article clearly tries to build up the sisters as just being good Catholics.

Another reason for not publishing it before or soon after the story would be that my letter makes it clear that there was a careful investigation. The TH article makes it seem like this ban was more arbitrary than anything. It could have reported specifics about the Bishop's concerns since both the Vicar General's letter to the pastors & the synopis of concerns document explaining the exact concerns were available. This is in addition to a statement issued after the story broke. The article shows that they were aware of those documents. Yet they chose to ignore the whole story of the Diocese's reasons & actions. My letter goes into greater detail, in the 250 word limit, as to why they were banned. The TH mentions only 2 programs, one on centering prayer, that both sound like they are well within orthodox Catholicism. they totally fail to mention any of the other programs/talks that the Diocese points out are New Age. Or the fact that there are concerns about the teachings the Centering Prayer  program is based on promotes the New Age idea of transforming consciousness.

Besides that, my letter applauds Bishop Morlino for doing what he is required to do as a good Bishop. Clearly the TH didn't want the fact that they weren't making it look that way to have attention drawn to it. As an aside, I am sure that this wasn't too welcome is some parts of the DBQ Archdiocesan chancery as well, since it points out the Archbishop's silence on many New Age activities in this area.

Interestingly, this isn't the 1st time I have seen a long delay from the time I wrote a letter, was contacted & it was finally published. Also of interest is the fact that it also involved the Sinsinawa Dominicans & Sr. Donna, their infamous abortion mill escort. That letter was published 9 days after I sent it & 8 days after they contacted me to see if I sent it. At that time, I had made the TH & the Sinsinawa Dominicans look bad. 1st of all by showing how the TH had totally ignored the story. Additionally I had forced the Sinsinawa Domincans to respond locally, something it is clear they had hoped to avoid. (Whole post about that here)

As another aside, I have to laugh at 1 of the comments made accusing me of being dramatic in calling any failure to correct these sisters by their order as scandalous. Clearly this person doesn't understand the Catholic Church's teaching about scandal as a sin against the 5th Commandment, Thou Shalt Not Kill!

Also, I plan on putting a link to this post on the Sinsinawa Dominicans Facebook page challenging them to reject the New Age doctrines. I suspect it will be taken down in short order.

 

Letter: Bishop right to crack down on Sinsinawa Dominicans

Bravo to Bishop Robert Morlino, of the Madison Diocese, for forbidding those involved with Wisdom's Well Interfaith Spirituality Center to be "allowed to preach, catechize, lead spiritual or prayer instructions or exercises, or to provide spiritual direction or guidance at churches, oratories, or chapels within the Diocese of Madison, whether as individuals or as official representatives of Wisdom's Well.Why? Concerns about what they taught, "certain views flowing from New Ageism, panentheism and indifferentism, and may not share an authentic view of the Catholic Church's approach to interreligious dialogue. These views are often associated with a spirit of relativism that can be an extreme result emanating from the 'hermeneutic of rupture' as a misinterpretation of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council."

As the diocesan spokesman made clear, this came about after careful investigation. So, there is solid basis for Bishop Morlino's actions. He was doing what a good bishop should do, protecting his flock from wolves attempting to harm the sheep he is spiritually in charge of.

Two of those involved are members of the Sinsinawa Dominicans, Sisters Maureen McDonnell (co-founder) and Lynn Lisbeth.

It seems the Sinsinawa Dominicans endorse their teachings. They issued a statement, saying they "wholeheartedly support our sisters" who are "preaching and teaching Gospel values."

Those so-called gospel values are a false gospel St. Paul warned about that would bring God's curse on them (Galatians 1:8).

Sinsinawa should take their lead from Bishop Morlino, correcting them for their errors in Christian charity.

To not do so is scandalous!

Bishop Morlino Bans New Age Nuns From Operating In Diocese

Today the Wisconsin State Journal printed a article based on a leaked letter to the priests of the Diocese of Madison dated 27 November 2012. The letter to the priests informed them that there were grave concerns about what Wisdom’s Well Interfaith Spirituality Center (aka “Wisdom’s Well”) taught, as well the "animating spirit of the center, namely that the center and its members may espouse certain views flowing from New Ageism, panentheism, and indifferentism, and may not share anauthentic view of the Catholic Church’s approach to interreligious dialogue. These views are often associated with a spirit of relativism that can be an extreme result emanating from the “hermeneutic of rupture” as a misinterpretation of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council."

Because of these concerns, on behalf of Bishop Morlino,  Msgr. James Bartylla, Vicar General, issued this statement "Until further notice, based upon ongoing investigation into this matter of grave concern, any past, present, or future staff or members of Wisdom’s Well Interfaith Spirituality Center, including at this time, Paula Hirschboeck, Ph.D., Sr. Maureen McDonnell, O.P., Sr. Lynn Lisbeth, O.P. and Ms. Beth O’Brien, Oblate of Holy Wisdom Monastery, are not to be invited or allowed to preach, catechize, lead spiritual or prayer instructions or exercises, or to provide spiritual direction or guidance at churches, oratories, or chapels within the Diocese of Madison, whether as individuals or as official representatives of Wisdom’s Well Interfaith Spirituality Center." (emphasis in original)

The Diocese has been monitoring the situtation of the speakers from Wisdom's Well for several years. So, it clearly is not a sudden slap down on the group, including the 2 Sinsinawa Dominicans.

The article focused on the Nuns, which is no surprize. Of course the article brought up the Vatican crackdown as well. That is no surprize either as it subtly paints this crackdown as a part of what the main stream media has painted as a persecution of nuns just trying to live out their faith rather than the dissidents they really are.

After the story broke today Msgr Bartylla replied with a statement that pointed out how the article was misleading. In it he said "The headline provocatively attempts to sensationalize the ordinary operations of the Catholic Church. The real issue is about the permissibility of members of Wisdom’s Well to speak at parishes, not about religious sisters. Contrary to the impression of the article’s headline, the prohibited group at this specific time is Wisdom’s Well, which includes not only religious sisters, but also others, and the “group” not being corrected at this time is religious sisters in general in the Diocese of Madison, including the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. The Diocese of Madison is aware of and grateful for the charitable work of many religious sisters over the years.
The article also fails to address sufficiently the risk that materials and methods of the members of Wisdom’s Well may appear to promote opinions that are contrary to the Church faith. The Diocese of Madison pursued this matter with utmost confidentiality to protect the reputations of all parties. The specific limitation of this issue to members of Wisdom’s Well and the confidential documents sent to the priests were also communicated personally, confidentially, and directly by me to the Prioress of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation at the time of the confidential communication to the priests in the Diocese of Madison."

It was at this time the diocese also put up the confidential letter on their website so that what was actually said would be available to all, not just the way the WSJ wanted to present it.

This is not the 1st time a confidential letter sent to priests has been leaked by dissident priests attempting to undermine the Bishop. A few years ago the Bishop sent out a confidential letter warning priests that if they said anything from the pulpit to undermine his teaching, they would face serious consequences. Bishop Morlino has also come under attack many other times for his attempts to clean things up in the Diocese.

As I pointed out, 2 of those banned are Dominicans from Sinsinawa. You may remember that this is the same group of Dominicans that produced the infamous Sr. Donna Quinn, who was outed as an escort at an abortion facility. This was in part due to a letter to the editor of the TH I wrote After my letter appeared, I got a call from 1 of her fellow Sinsinawa Dominicans trying to justify her actions. The motherhouse also issued a weak statement about how they were pro-life & would work with Sr. Donna to resolve the matter.
Additionally I pointed out how Sinsinawa wasn't exactly supporting authentic Catholic teaching in many other areas.

So it comes as no surprize to me that rather than admitting these nuns were wrong the spokesperson issued a statement in support of them. In it Tricia Buxtonsaid that McDonnell & Lisbeth are "respected and valued members" of the order. Also it said that both women "have been dedicated to religious life and preaching and teaching Gospel values for nearly 50 years." It went on to say that the Sinsinawa Dominicans "wholeheartedly support our sisters and hold them in prayer as we continue our mission of participating in the building of a holy and just church and society."
As I said, that they support them is no surprize. But in doing so, they are admitting they support dissent from authentic Catholic teaching as well as giving more evidence that the Vatican was right in saying that things need to be cleaned up at the Leadership Conference of Women Religious & their member religious orders.
I applaud Bishop Morlino for his efforts & boo the Wisconsin State Journal in their efforts to create a huge scandal & undemine the Bishop.

Dissident Nuns Awarded Prize by Group Founded by Dissident Priest to Undemine Authentic Catholicism

The Leadership Council of Women Religious was awarded the Herbert Haag Prize for 2013 for Freedom in the Church. The fact that these heritical habitless hussies have won it should come to no surprize to anyone who knows who Herbert Haag was & why he established the foundation he did to award this prize.

Fr. Herbert Haag (d 2001) was a Swiss liberal Roman Catholic theologian.  He was born in Singen, Germany. In 1940, he was ordained as a priest for the diocese of Basel. From 1948 until his retirement in 1980 he taught theology at universities in Lucerne and then in Tübingen, Germany.

He taught that ''apostolic succession'' was an untenable concept. Additionally, he held the position that ordained priests were not needed to celebrate the Eucharist. In 1981 he was the co-author of an open letter in Swiss newspapers. In it, he contended that a wrong had been done to another Swiss Catholic theologian, Hans Küng, who had challenged church doctrines.

In response to what he taught, the Swiss Bishops Conference issued a declaration officially withdrawing its confidence in him. Kurt Koch, the bishop of Basel, Switzerland, the diocese he was incardinated in, called his views ''self-centered and destructive.''

In 198, he established a foundation to foster his idea of openness in the church. Thus foundation has given awards to organizations opposing vows of celibacy & the exclusion of women from the priesthood.

Like I said, that the LCWR is the latest recipient of this prize should come as no surprize.

The Haag Foundation said that the 2013 prize was awarded to the LCWR in recognition of its extensive efforts in helping the poor, the marginalised & people in difficult circumstances. Additionally, it was done in recognition and of “their careful reflection of the signs of the times in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council,” making the nuns “a pillar of the Catholic Church in the United States of America.”

It went on to say in its announcement of the award that “the accusations of the Roman Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith are without any substantial foundation and are the result of an unsatisfactory investigation process that lacks transparency.” Also “the intervention of the Roman Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith  (CDF) is looked upon as a scandal by many Catholics, especially in the United States.”

& that is only a part of the false & misleading claims made by the Haag Foundation. They tell those lies to make it sound like the LCWR are heroines & the Catholic Church heirarcy are the bad guys. 

But what they fail to say is just as telling. 1st of all, what they mean by the "spirit of the Second Vatican Council." Their use of the term has nothing to do with the authentic "Spirit of Vatican II", the Holy Spirit. & it has everything to do with the false "spirit of  Vatican II" that Bishop Walker Nickless of Sioux City said needed to be exorcised.

As for those scandalized, what about all of us faithful Catholics who have been scndalized for years by the heretical, dissdenting behavior of the LCWR? That is the real scnadal. Those who are upsect by the CDF actions are the very ones who support the what the LCWR stand for. They are unhappy that the truth is getting out & that the Catholic Church will not tolerate the false doctrines they promote any more than it tolerated past heresies like Arainism, Pelagianism or the various forms of gnosticism.

As for  the "lack of transparency" on the part of the CDF claim, what a joke. They know full well that the LCWR did everything it could to hide what the truth from those sent to investigate. If those LCWR gang had nothing to hide, then why the lack of cooperation? You would think the LCWR would want the truth out in the open. Unless what they were promoting was wrong & contrary to authentic Catholic teaching.

Also, I wouldn't call the LCWR a pillar, rather I would call them a quagmire of heresy & dissent leading people to put there souls at risk of eternal damnation who get caught up in what they are doing & teaching.

The Haag Foundation & the LCWR don't want freedom, they want license to promote their heresies without contradiction. Well, the Catholic Church is not founded on that. It was founded on the truth revealed to the Apostles by Jesus & given the charge to defend it against all those who would say otherwise. & no matter what these dissidents may say to the contrary, the Catholic Church never will change to suit them. The Church will maintain faithfulness to the truth against all attacks until Christ returns.

Doctor Who - The New Season

As any Doctor Who fan knows, tonite marks the start of the 7th Series of the show since it returned to the air in 2005. While there have been 14 episodes announced, not all the details have come out, including the plots of all the episodes. Thanks to my connections I have been able to discover the plots of 2 of those episodes. Here is what I have found out about them*:

MATERNIA 

This story  is a flashback to the 6th season when Amy & Rory are still expecting Melody (River). Because of the uncertainty that keeps cropping up, he takes them to the planet Maternia which is known for giving the best prenatal care in the universe regardless of species. When he gets there he finds that the planet has been renamed Sanger & is now ruled by the evil empress, Ceciler & her consort Brocko. Brocko had recently run for president, but disguised his real beliefs until he could get elected. Cecile & her Planned Parenthood Federation Intersteller gang were secretly behind his election & poured in huge amounts of money to get him elected. The PPFI are a race of pink humanoids. They came from a distant galaxy after being exiled for promoting abortion. After the election, Brocko, declares martial law. He also nationalizes all of the maternity clinics & turns them over to the head of the HHS, Sibally.  Under her, the clinics are turned into abortion clinics run by the telemed robots.
Sibally & several other members of Brockos administration turn out to be PPFI. They overthrow Brocko & install Ceciler as empress. Brocko, who was very narcisistic & is shocked by his loss of power, so he begins to go mad. Ceciler kept him arround for amusement which is why he is officially her consort.
They also begin their eugenics plan to eliminate anyone who isn't ideal geneticly, which means only those who are of the PPFU. Now, if a pregnant woman comes in, instead of getting prenatal care, every woman is forced to have an abortion. As the TM Robert performs the abortion with the aide of robotic nurses, they scream "abort, abort, ABORT!!!!!"
Meanwhile, those who opposed what was going on have been shipped off to the planet's moon renamed Marie Stopes^. They are sent to the mines as slaves to mine the mineral RU-486 which is used for the abortions. There is also a huge Pro-life underground still on planet.
The Tardis landed near a clinic, so the Doctor, Amy & Rory are unaware of the changes. They go into the clinic. While Rory & the Doctor wait, Amy is taken into an examination room. As they start to force Amy to take the RU-486 she begins to scream & tries to escape. Fortunately the Doctor & Rory hear her. They are able to rush in & save Amy, disabling the TM Robot & restoring the original programs to the Nurse robots.
Soon, they connects up with the pro-life underground who have been working to overthrow Empress Ceciler. With the help of the underground, the Doctor is able to destroy the main computer operating the Telemed Robots.
Meanwhile, as the Pro-life underground peacefully takes over the palace, Ceciler & Brocko are trapped in a room on the upper floor. Brocko's mind has now completely snapped & his anger to Ceciler turns into rage. He throws her out the window & she is killed.
At the same time, the slaves on the moon are able to take control from those in control. All the PPFI are arrested & locked up to await trial. A temporary government is set up to run things until a free election can be held. All the RU-486 is found & shot into the sun to destroy it.
As the show end, we see Brocko in a padded cell with the Doctor, Amy & Rory watching him via a monitor. He has a totally blank look on his face & can be heard repeating certain phrases  like "It is unfortunate that Amy is being punished with a baby" "Forward" or "You didn't build that maternity clinic."

Attack of The Habitless Hussies

The sepisode starts out where the previous episode ended after the defeat of the Daleks on 45th Century Earth. The camera panned over the destruction ending with the Vatican & St. Peter's Basilica,  lying in ruins. The picture fades to a restored St. Peter's. At this point in the new episode, the camera begins pulling back & we see the familiar shape of Italia. But as we continue we notice it is not Earth but a different planet. We see several other continents, including one on the other side of the globe shaped like Iowa. As we return to St. Peter's a gigantic bus appears in the sky. Cut to opening credits.
The doctor & his new companion name unknown at this time, but female) receive a distress signal & answer it. They find that they have landed in New St. Peter's Square in the 50th Century on Earth.. When they come out they are met by the Camerlengo. He greats them & tells them he is there to take them to an audience with the Pope, Benedict CXVI. As they walk towards the Vatican, the Camerlengo tells the Doctor what happenned.
They are on the planet Vaticano. After the Dalek attack in the 45th Century Pope Pascal XI was killed in the destruction. The cardinals who came in from across the galaxy elected Pope Eugene XXII. At that time it was decided to move Vatican City off world. Over the centuries, as man travelled in space & met new races, the Catholic faith went with them. Many races saw that the Catholic faith the ultimate truths they had long looked for were clearly & unapologeticly proclaimed. So, they converted.  Unfortunately, not everyone agreed. In fact certain groups, like the Leadership Council of Women Religious (LCWR) & their confederates, the Non-orthodox Catholic Reporter clan (NCR) from the Heresia galaxy were among them.
Finally, they settled on this non-inhabited planet which they named Vaticano. A few days ago, the giant bus we saw at the start appeared in the sky. It contained the armies of the LCWR along with some NCR spies.
At this point they are welcomed by Pope Benedict. He explains that the LCWR are a race whose skin is made of polyester & that they always wear pants suits. He says that their faces are those of pure evil. They have laid seige on New Vatican City & are calling for the ordination of women, gay marriage & the deposition of Pope Benedict.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet in the continent shaped by Iowa, the Eternal Word Transuniverse Network (EWTN) complex is being infiltrated by the NCR spies.  EWTN aides the Vatican in promulgating the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church. The NCR spies goal is to attach their secret weapon, the Spiritualizer to the EWTN transmitter. After it is attached, during the Papal audience broadcast the next day, it will send out a beam that will cause all those watching to be possessed by the evil False Spirit of Vatican II.

That evening after Evensong, while the Doctor & the Pope continue their discussion, the new companion goes wandering off & is captured by a LCWR soldier. She is taken to LCWR HQ where they try to turn her into a radical feminist, supporting their agenda. She pretends to go along & later is able to escape. One of the LCWR soldiers realizes what is going on & gives chase. The Doctor & the Pope are on the steps of St. Peter's & see her running. They are able to stop the guard when the Pope, who had been going out to bless the Tardis, accidently sprinkles some of the Holy Water he was carrying on the guard.

The companion found out about the plans to send out the signal via EWTN as well as the simultanious attack on the Vatican. But that night, all the LCWR will be meditating is a group of mazes to prepare.
The Doctor & the Pope decide to attack the LCWR while they are meditating. Arming the Swiss Guards with Holy Water they are able to capture all the LCWR & put them into a temporary force field prison erected by the Doctor.
The Doctor & his companion then head to EWTN to thwart the NCR spies. When they get there they find that the spies, Joanie C (aka Satan's Blueberry Muffin) & The Bishop of Gumbleton have installed the transmitter & are talking with the LCWR leader, Sr. Pat. When they see the Doctor they flee in a minibus after telling the Doctor it is too late.
The Doctor then tries to remove the Spiritualizer as we see a clock in the studio counting down to the broadcast of the Papal audience. Just as the clock reads 0:07 the Doctor succeeds in removing the Spiritualizer.
The next day, the Pope, aided by several Cardinals, performs an exorcism on the captured LCWR. They are then sentanced to life in a cloistered monastery. There they will be required to wear a habit, take a vow of silence, pray the office daily, attend a Traditional Latin Mass each Sunday (weekdays will be Eastern Rite liturgies), read daily from the Catechism as well as hear lectures on what the Catholic Church actually teaches from a member of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Unfortunately, Sr. Pat & her NCR spies were able to escape & we see their minibus flying off into space.
