Thursday night, 8 February 2007, DBQ Co. Right to Life brought in Allan Parker, president of The Justice Foundation. He was there to talk about the work his orginization was doing to to help Norma McCorvey, the Jane Roe of Roe v Wade & Sandra Cano , the Jane Doe of Doe v Bolton to get the Supreme Court to revisit & overturn their decisions. Both appeals were declined by the Supreme Court.
But the main thrust of his talk was about a project started by The Justice Fundation called Operation Outcry. Operation Outcry has 2 main thrusts: 1: To expose "the two great lies surrounding legalized abortion: 1) abortion is good and safe for women; and, 2) it is not a baby being aborted." & 2: To help women & men injured by their participation in an abortion to find the hope & healing they need.
The talk went for a little over an hour & included testimonies by 2 local women who had 1 or more abortions. They shared their experiences of the emotional harm, short & long term, done to them by abortion. There was also a video presentation about a program, Faces of Abortion, that is carried on satellite via Sky Angel as well as on many local public access cable channels. The program includes interviews with women who share their stories of the damage done to them by their having an abortion.
Another part of the outreach is tied in with their legal efforts. They are asking women involved in & hurt by an abortion to fill out an affidavit that can be used in court as well as in hearings before state & federal legislatures. They are adding a form for men hurt by abortion to enable them to do the same. the also have an Amicus curiae (Friend of the Court) forms that can be filled out by anyone 18 yrs of age or older. "It allows your name to be used in legal efforts to end abortion." They are also gathering stories of how abortion hurt those involved to be published so that they can be "given to pregnancy care centers for their waiting rooms, churches, individuals, lawmakers, and the media for publication and interviews."
The group also has a National HelpLine that operates 24/7 @ 1-866-482-LIFE. Women who have been hurt by abortion can call to get the help they need. They also have links on the website for groups that can help men hurt by abortion.
I would recommend checking out the websites for both groups. These are 2 more groups that are worthy of support.
