The "Culture of Death" Mindset at It's Worst

The "culture of death" minions like Planned Parenthood & NARAL are applauding the Obama administration's announcement Monday forcing all health care plans to cover contraceptives as well as abortifacient “morning-after” pills such as Ella & "voluntary" sterilization. As announced by HHS Secretary Sibelius, there are no conscience protections for Catholic institutions to allow them to opt out. They also invited comment on a possible amendment to the regulation that allows religious institutions that offer insurance to their employees the choice of whether or not to cover contraception services.
Given the Obama administration track record of working to undermine people's conscience exceptions in the past, I highly doubt that it will truly provide any real ability to object. & plenty of others have said the same.

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, head of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said that “Although this new rule gives the agency the discretion to authorize a ‘religious’ exemption, it is so narrow as to exclude most Catholic social service agencies and healthcare providers."

He went on to say “For example, under the new rule our institutions would be free to act in accord with Catholic teaching on life and procreation only if they were to stop hiring and serving non-Catholics. Could the federal government possibly intend to pressure Catholic institutions to cease providing health care, education and charitable services to the general public? Health care reform should expand access to basic health care for all, not undermine that goal.”

“The Administration’s failure to create a meaningful conscience exemption to the preventive services mandate underscores the need for Congress to approve the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act,” the Cardinal said. That bill (H.R. 1179), introduced by Reps. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) and Dan Boren (D-OK), would prevent mandates under the new health reform law from undermining rights of conscience."

Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society issued a statement with his concerns. “The HHS guidelines would force Catholic colleges to violate the law or violate the Catholic faith. Neither option is acceptable.

“It appears that Catholic colleges will be forced into the untenable position of helping students as well as employees obtain free contraceptives and sterilization. Our religious freedom is under attack.”

That is an understatement. He also pointed out how this is social engineering at its worst. In talking about how the HHS took the extraordinary step of putting the guidelines into effect immediately so that college students could have free contraceptives, sterilizations & abortifacients by the 2012-2013 school year.“The Obama Administration apparently believes that ensuring contraceptives for students’ premarital exploits is reason enough to forego public comment before making these rules effective.”

Anna Franzonello, staff counsel with Americans United for Life, told Politico that such an amendment would likely fall short. “The Obama administration has repeatedly demonstrated that its idea of conscience is narrow and protections are shallow or meaningless,” she said.

1 of the most bizarre aspects of this is the insistance that contraceptives, many of which, as I pointed out the other day, are abortifaceants, HAVE NO CO-PAYMENT?????? Why are they supposed to be the exception when they not only kill the unborn but have been proven to have serious negative effects for those who use the, effects that have been clearly proven. For instance, the drug in hormonal birth control pills has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen, or a “definite” cause of cancer, by the World Health Organization. In the case of Yaz & Yasmin, the side effects have lead to lawsuits. (http://www.yaz-yasmin-lawsuit.com/) You can go to UW Continues its Attack on Women While Acknowledging Negative Effects of Contraceptives & Another Study Shows Negative Side Effects of Oral Contraceptives on Women's Health for just some of the latest.

Despite all this, supporters claim that it is because they are part of an essential “preventive care” package. Preventing what, illness, death? Increasing the number of deaths & illnesses, mental as well as physical is more like it.

But no other drugs that truly work to prevent illness or death are given this same exception. I am on medicine for my blood pressure & cholesterol to prevent me from having a stroke or heart attack. Yet, they will continue to have a co-pay. & so will almost every other drug as well.

I agree wholeheartedly with what Arland Nichols, National Director of Human Life International (HLI) America, said about the decision. He said it was “very disappointing” as it was essentially ideological.
“It amounts to a federal decree that pregnancy is a disease and that children are an enemy of the health and wellbeing of women.” & that is why the exception to the co-payment rule.

But there is also another reason that the abortion industry is so gung-ho for requiring insurance companies pay 100% of the cost of contraceptives, it will increase the profits they make in 2 ways. 1st of all, Planned parenthood, who is known for overcharging medicaid for prescriptions & other services, will now have even more money coming in from insurance companies. The 2nd way is the money they will make from the increased number of abortions as the contraceptives fail. Over time they know that the real failure rate is much greater than the ideal rate promoted. & when they do fail & women get pregnant, they know that it is the abortion providers who stand to profit.
Another fact not mentioned is how this will increase the cost of insurance for everyone. Co-payments serve to keep the cost of insurance down.

It is also clear that Obama knows that his dictatorial actions are the only way to get through what he knows is wrong in so many ways. He knows that last year's election was not just about the economy. It was about life issues. Given how the Institute of Medicine ran the hearings for the report, it is clear that they were just following the Obama administrations wishes. Another payback by Obama to the abortion undustry.

So when you look at it, this is a win for the "culture of death" only. A win that can NOT be allowed to stand. Once again we are seeing what is really in "ObamaCare" & why it is imperative that it be repealed & true health care reform be instituted instead. Reform that values life from the 1st instant of life to the very last minute of life. In other words, anything like abortion or euthanasia must be clearly defined as being what they really are, murder.

Folks, we cannot give up & say it is a fait accompli. This is only 1 battle. We must continue to pray as well as work to elect Pro-life people to all levels of government. We won some big victories last year in the election. Next year we must insure that the House remains strongly Pro-life. We must also ensure that the same is true about the Senate as well as the Presidency. As a nation, we may have taken a step in the wrong direction Monday, but I don't think it is too late for us to repent & turn back. iT WILL ONLY BE TOO LATE IF WE DON'T.
