Ganymede Moons Hubble Telescope

Actually this is a picture of Ganymede as it is about to go behind Jupiter. The picture was taken by the Hubble Telescope on 9 April 2007. Ganymede is a ball of rock and ice. It is the largest moon in our solar system, with a diameter of about 3,270 miles (5,262 km). Our Moon is about 3,470 km in diameter.
As a reference to enable you to get a true idea of the sizes we are dealing with, the Great Red Spot shown in this picture is about 2-3 Earth diameters across.
