Niece of Martin Luther King to join Archbishop Chaput in pro-life prayer vigil

Aug. 13, 2008 - Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008, Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will join Dr. Alveda C. King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for a peaceful prayer vigil near the new Planned Parenthood Clinic in Stapleton. The event will take place in Martin Luther King Park (E. 38th St.), just one block west of the clinic. Dr. King, Archbishop Chaput, and pastors from churches in the neighborhood.

A candlelight procession will follow the rally, proceeding from the park and around the perimeter of the Planned Parenthood Clinic.

On 8 November 2007 the Colorado Bishops Conference issued their Statement on construction of new Planned Parenthood center. The 1st signature was Archbishop Chaput's.

Meanwhile, here in the Archdiocese of DBQ nothing has been heard from Archbishop Hanus. He is still listed as MIA in the battle against the DBQ PP.

Archbishop Chaput has also weighed on on Sen. Biden. In a statement to the Associated Press he said that Biden "has admirable qualities to his public service. But his record of support for so-called abortion 'rights,' while mixed at times, is seriously wrong. I certainly presume his good will and integrity — and I presume that his integrity will lead him to refrain from presenting himself for Communion, if he supports a false 'right' to abortion." (Denver Archbishop Chaput: Biden should refrain from communion; "looks forward to speaking with him privately")

I suspect that Biden won't like what Archbishop Chaput has to say to him, assuming Biden has the courage to meet with the Archbishop.

Meanwhile, I would love to review Archbishop Chaput's new book "Render Unto Caeasar" about the role of faith in the public square. (Hint, Hint!)
