For What It's Worth - USCCB's Revised Website Edition

On Monday the USCCB unveiled its redesigned website. IMHO not completely for the better. It is harder to find some things. Or it takes more clicks than before, like getting to the links to the US dioceses. Which gets me to why this post.

When I finally did find the page with the diocesan links & clicked on one, a box with the following statement: "By accepting this message, you will be leaving the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This link is provided solely for the user's convenience. By providing this link, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops assumes no responsibility for, nor does it necessarily endorse, the website, its content, or sponsoring organizations."

Let's see if I have this right. The links are to Diocesan, Archdiocesan, Eparchy & Archeparchy websites & the USCCB feels that they must put up a disclaimer saying it does not take any responsibility for what is on the website nor does necessarily endorse the website or its content.

So is the USCCB saying that the diocesan website might not contain orthodox Catholic content? Or is the USCCB saying that if what is on the diocesan website is authenticly Catholic that the USCCB doesn't endorse it because they (the USCCB) aren't? Or a mixture of both????

The disclaimer by the USCCB is a perfect reflection of what it does not do - take responsibility... which, of course, goes right against what it means to be authentically Catholic. Disclaimer was intentional. Thus corruption still exists within.

I ask you to be less quick to judge. As a web developer, I have had some clients who get upset when others link to them because they believe someone else is taking credit for their work. Maybe USCCB is letting you know that they can claim credit for the works of others.

Chester, there is a huge difference between outside links & links to the Diocesan websites.2ndly, this disclaimer was just added for the revised webside. For the many years it existed, the old website didn't have that disclaimer. That aside, it was ment to be a humurous observation of how the USCCB is treating the Bishops & dioceses that make it up. Nothing judgmental.
