2011 DBQ Co Right to Life L.I.F.E. Dinner

Saturday night was the 2011 DBQ. Co Right to Life L.I.F.E. Dinner. This year the speaker was Abby Johnson, the former director of a Texas Planned Parenthood clinic.

The attendance this year was over 800 breaking last years record turnout to hear Jill Stanek. Before I go on to share a little of what Abby Johnson said, I have to make 1 comment about the turnout for this as compared to the turn out for the DC Rally held a few weeks ago by the pro-aborts. The most reliable sources say they drew about 1000 people for it. The big lie (1 of many actually) was the claim their turnout was evidence of the grass roots support for the abortion industry. Well, Iowa & the tri-state area is the real grass roots. & 800+ from this area alone sure trumps 1000 nationwide. (Nevermind the fact the Jan 2011 March for Life & West Coast March drew a 440,ooo+ combined total not adding in all the local gatherings. Again we see how Planned Parenthood operates by lies not truth.

Which leads me to Abby Johnson's talk. Her talk ran for about 50-55 minutes. She held our attention throughout. She started out by sharing a bit of her story. & even there she worked in how PP lies. She pointed out that PP does not & never has done mammograms because of what level care facilty the organization is classified is. It can do no diagnostics or treatment. Just educate people on how to do breast examines.

She also told how those who do get any training for the ultrasounds only get a 2 week course that doesn't really qualify them .

She shared a bit about what the normal procedure done at a PP clinic for a surgical abortion is. Then she went on to share what happenned that fateful day. What was the most heartwrenching part of the story was her sharing what she saw when the cannula touched the 13 week old child. It tried to get away. So the doctor had to reposition it. Then he told the person operating the power to"Beam me up, Scotty!", meaning turn the suction on. Abby said after that the screen was black because the child was no longer there.

1 of the stories she shared showed how twisted the PP mindset really is. Abby talked to a supervisor when she was pregnant with her daughter. She was concerned about it discouraging women from getting an abortion. She was told it would have the opposite effect. & sadly, it did.

She went along for so long buying what PP said. Until that fateful day. It was the fact that she remembered how she felt when she was 12 weeks along with the ultrasound she got. & then this totally opposite use.

As she pointed out, by 12, let alone 13, weeks the baby is fully formed & everything from that point on is growth. Yes, the child feels pain, yes, the heart IS beating, etc. No it is nothing like what the pro-aborts claim, an unfeeling mass of tissue.

She went on to share some of what she has been doing since. She talked about the DC gathering. She also shared she in on a campaign to reclaim hot pink from the pro-aborts as she likes the color. In fact, she uses that color of ink to sign her book. (As an aside, when I told her my 1st name she got the spelling right when she asked if that was how you spell it. It turns out her Father's middle name is spelled that way. Anyone who gets it right without me having to tell them gets bonus points in my mind.)

While that is only part of what she shared, it was the end where she made her most important point. What we are supposed to be really doing of we truly are pro-life. & it isn't just showing up once a year at the DCRTL fundraising dinner to hear a speaker. She made it clear that while not everyone is called to show up at a clinic everyone has to do something, write letters, volunteer at a Crisis Pregnancy Clinic etc. But what she said was most important of all was that we are all able to pray. & we must.

I got a chance to talk to her for a couple minutes afterwords & thanked her for all she has done, especially for confirming a lot of what I have said over the years about how PP twists & distorts their numbers. She shared a couple of stories of how the "profits" are used to pay for things like $200 a person lunches.

Thank God for all he did in converting Abby Johnson to the Pro-life side. She has often been called Planned Parenthood's worst nightmare. & her talk Saturday night once again proved how true that it.
