Planned Parenthood's PR Push to Bring Telemed Abortions to DBQ Has Begun

I just openned the TH to the opinion section & there is an article by Dr. Jill Meadows, medical director for Planned Parenthood-Heartland. & of course she is trying to make it sound like telemed abortions are the greatest thing since the world began. Of course it is filled with the usual lies about how this is only about the woman. She fails to mention that it also involves a 2nd human, the unborn child. & what is even more disgusting, she calls that decision to kill the baby a moral one.
1 of the biggest lies in the piece is the bit about making abortion more accessable to women in rural areas. The reality is, very few of the PP sites are in rural areas. & the women still have to travel to get to most of them.
But that is not the only lie she tells.
She makes it sound like we want to limit telemedicine when she knows full well we don't. We just want to put a stop to telemed abortions. In fact she uses 2 lies to drive home her point. She makes it sound like we think limiting telemedicine will put an end to abortions. Get real lady. We know it won't end abortions. Then she goes on to say limiting telemedicine (not telemed abortions) will harm women who need access to safe health care. Again a lie.
We do not oppose telemedicine & she knows it! Nor are we opposed to women getting safe health care. We just oppose your murdering unborn babies & using scare tactics to justify it.
You will note that she never quotes any statistics to prove that telemedicine is needed in Iowa. In general it may or may not be needed. But she just makes vague claims that we are preventing women from safe health care. & other than for abortions we in the Pro-life movement welcome it.
Of course she also fails to mention that according to FDA protocols, telemed abortions are not an approved way of dispensing the drugs. & she also fails to mention that there have been at least 15 deaths due to RU-486 usage. In fact, in a 2006 editorial the NY Times questioned PP's allowing women to take the 2nd drug at home which is how it is done in Iowa for telemed abortion. & there have been a lot more complications showing up as well. (RU486 not safer than surgical abortion)
Then there is her abortion is legal bit. Legal yes, moral no. It being legal no more makes it moral than slavery being legal made it moral. Let's rework her statement by replacing abortion with slavery. "Slavery is a safe and legal service that Iowa women need and want."
& of course she breaks out the old "imposing your own beliefs" chestnut. So following her logic, we should get rid of any laws against murder, rape, speed limits etc, since they are imposing beliefs on people who believe rape is OK, murder is OK etc.
Abortion is no more moral than rape. It is murder plain & simple. & she knows it. & despite her claims to the contrary, murder is never a repsonsible decision.
I could go on & on about the lies & half truths she puts in the piece. But I have covered most of them in other posts.
But there is 1 last claim that I would like he to prove. She claims that the women of Eastern Iowa have said they want access to telemed abortions. They have???? I haven't exactly seen a groundswell demand for them. & in fact I know quite a few women in Eastern Iowa who are absolutely horrified by the very idea of them. Again a vague claim with no basis in fact.
I will say that the real purpose of her article was to fire the 1st salvo to prepare the way for bringing telemed abortions to DBQ. It is clear that, despite claims to the contrary, the decision to bring telemed abortions to DBQ has been made. & like always, PP will tell every lie it can to spread its murderous agenda.
(Note, again the article isn't on the TH website yet, so no link.)
