I just came across this story from the
New York Times about the Health Care debate. To some extent the headline says it all:
Abortion Fight Complicates Debate on Health Care. The article by David D. Kirkpatrick that was published on 28 September 2009 opens with this line: "
As if it were not complicated enough, the debate over health care in Congress is becoming a battlefield in the fight over abortion."
My 1st reaction to this was why are the acting so surprized? Did they think that those of us who oppose abortion because of what it really is, murder, wouldn't stand up & try to protect the unborn? Or did they think that with Obama, Reid & Pelosi being so openly pro-abortion that they would be able to ram it through without a fight? Or did they think we were dumb enough to by their lies that without it being mentioned it wasn't included? Or a combination of them?
NARAL & the rest of the pro-death gang are not happy. They know that the tide is starting to turn against them. Esp since Obama's actions from almost Day 1 have shown that he will do all he can to increase the number of abortions. & as the debate has raged, more people are coming to understand what abortion really is about & thus opposing it.
That makes the pro-abortion people concerned. they know that they have to force this through under cover. & they were hoping their easily disproved lies would go through unchallenged. But they haven't gotten their way.
The battle isn't over yet. & the lies go on. 1 is especially egregious "Jim Manley, a spokesman for the Democratic leader, Senator Harry Reid, said that Mr. Reid believes that the latest drafts of legislation already accomplish that goal." The problem is, they don't. But Reid is clinging to his stand. Does he not realize he is on a sinking ship? Or is he aware of the fact that Nevada voters are fed up with him & he hopes to get abortion through before they kick him out? For a 4 term senator, he hasn't exactly been losing in the polls against either potential Republican candidate. Not good, esp since he won by 61% of the vote in 2004. & while the polls aren't always right, the fact that he has dropped so precipitously isn't a good sign.
Any way you look at it, abortion supporters know that they are waging a battle against time. They know that unless they force it through soon, they will never get it through. & you will see them use every dirty tactic they can to do so. So we must remain vigilant. & keep fighting for true health care reform, not a system that codifies murder of the unborn as health care & takes us 1 more step along the path to a socialist/communist government that is a total betrayal of our Founding Fathers vision for this country.
___________
An interesting aside that hasn't come up until now. Or at least I haven't seen it is this point. The times had this item in the story: "Advocates of tighter restrictions note that the health insurance program for federal employees complies with the ban on abortion financing by excluding any plans that offer abortion." Gee, if a ban is good enough for the Federal government why isn't it good enough for the rst of us?? (sarcasm off)
