Pro-Life Mass For Our Lady of Guadelupe in Chicago
The inspiration for holding the Mass came from attorney Tom Brejcha of the Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center, Chicago. Brejcha and TMS are committed to bringing religion back to the public square this Christmas. Since Federal Plaza is a public space, any group can request a permit to hold an event. This Mass will be the first ever held on Federal Plaza.
The League and the Thomas More Society are excited to have this opportunity to show the vibrancy of the Catholic faith to Chicagoans. The League's Ann Scheidler said, "Chicago has such a strong Catholic tradition. This is a great chance for Catholics to show their love for Our Lady of Guadalupe—patroness of the Americas and of the Unborn."
While it will be chilly, organizers aren't worried. "Chicagoans are tough," Scheidler said, "A little cold won't keep anyone away. Though you should dress warmly!" There will be coffee, hot chocolate, and other goodies to warm people up after the Mass.
Along with the League and the Thomas More Society, cosponsors of this event include the Archdiocese of Chicago's Office for Hispanic Catholics, Respect Life Office and Office for Peace and Justice.
Federal Plaza is located at 50 W. Adams, at the corner of Adams and Dearborn in the Loop.
