Is Obama Following In Hitler's Footsteps?

Now look at what this National Catholic Register  article Is the HHS Taking Aim at Babies With Down Syndrome?   has to say (selected quotes, follow link for entire story):

'Buried in the IOM report is the recommendation for no-cost, well-woman visits; these visits include prenatal care — and thus prenatal testing for ‘genetic or developmental conditions,'' according to attorney and bioethicist Mark Leach in Public Discourse. 'This prompts the question: How does prenatal testing prevent Down syndrome?' "

"Since Down syndrome is present from conception and cannot be treated in utero, it would appear that the birth of babies with Down syndrome is prevented by making certain that all women receive prenatal screening, which in 90% of cases leads to abortion."

According to the Life Issues Institute, “a $180-million study done in the United States, partially funded by the March of Dimes*, concluded that such ‘services’ were ‘cost-effective’ when compared to the high cost of caring for ‘blighted’ children. A March of Dimes vice president concluded that ‘expanded genetic services could save the government billions of dollars in custodial care of genetically handicapped children.’”

Could coverage of prenatal testing be another cost-cutting measure in “Obamacare”? Secretary Sebelius cited cost-effectiveness as the reason for covering the cost of contraception.

“The reduction in the number of pregnancies compensates for the cost of contraception,” Sebelius testified before a House of Representatives committee on March 1."

As I said, check out the entire article. You will see that I am not taking these quotes out of context, just hilighting the main parts of the story.

The Nazis saw certain groups of humans as something less than human. That included those with Down syndrome, as well as those with other mental handicaps that they labelled retarded. The Nazis didn't see them as having any value, let alone deserving to spend any money on their care.

Well, is Obama following in Hilter's footsteps? It sure sounds like it to me.

* Note on the March of Dimes: They say that they are "dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality." Unfortunately, they take a Mengele approach to finding cures as they support embryonic stem cell research. (March of Dimes policy on stem cell research):"March of Dimes policy for funding adult and hES cell research, and all other research involving human tissues, is to adhere to United States federal law, regulation and policy on funding and conduct of such research." They take a very utilitarian approach you will notice. We are only supporting what is legal. Never mind that embryonic stem cells can only be harvested by killing the embryonic human being. According to the March of Dime, the fact that it is legal makes it OK. By their standard, I guess we owe an apology to Mengele for condemning his experiments that were legal under Nazi law. Sorry, but legal does not equal moral

But the March of Dimes does have some standards.  They make it clear that they will only support the murder of babies specificly created to provide stem cells: "For some people, use of human embryonic stem cells raises concerns about abortion. The March of Dimes specifically prohibits researchers who receive its grants from using their funds for abortion activities, abortion research, or to give directive advice on abortions in the course of March of Dimes-supported research. Every March of Dimes grantee is notified in writing of this policy and must comply or forfeit his or her grant."

Something tells me that that is more for PR than anything else. Basicly, they are claiming "See, we know some people have a thing about abortion. & we are sensitive to your concerns so we won't use abortions as a source of embryonic stem cells."  They are saying this to divert attention from 1 little fact. Regardless of the source, to get embryonic stem cells a human being has to be murdered.

Additionally, what that March of Dimes VP said clearly implies the approval of abortion. Sadly, what passes for preventing birth defects at March of Dimes these days seems to be if a birth defect can't be prevented, then kill the child because it is cheaper all arround. What a horrible utilitarian, Nazi-like mentality.
