“
This would roll back decades of progress for women’s health care.”
“We are a safe place where people can go." - Cecile Richards - From a staement to the AP about the current attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.*
I'm sorry Ms. Richards but after reading 2 news stories involving incidents at Planned Parenthood sites, I would say that we have more proof that what you are doing is anything but health care, or a safe place to go. & this time arround you can't claim that Live Action faked any video since they weren't involved.
The 1st story takes us to Kennewick, WA & involves an incident that occurred at the Planned Parenthood Abortion Mill in September 2008 that is just coming to light. It shows us exactly what PP thinks about choice, statuatory rape & parental rights.
About the 16th of September an unnamed 14 year old who was 22 weeks pregnant by a 20 year old male. That makes her the victim of statuatory rape. She had gone to the PP site with her sister & father. She hadn't wanted the father there because she was concerned about his being upset at her being pregnant.
Rather than release her to the father as the law required, they held her there & called the police. & in addition, staff worker Andrea Smasne was trying to get the girl to sign a referral form to send her elsewhere for a late term abortion. (Note: The PP she was at does abortions, but only up to 13 weeks.) As the police officer later found out, the girl did not want to sign & Smasne was trying to pressure her into doing so.
When the police officer, Wayne Meyer, showed up & found out the age of the girl, he asked why they were denying him access. Smasne told him that once the juvenile is pregnant, the juvenile is emancipated. She went on to add that the father had no right to be present if the patient did not want him there. Fortunately the police officer didn't take her at her word. Instead he contacted City Attorney Eric Eisinger. According to the report filed: "Based on his research, a juvenile is not emancipated simply by becoming pregnant. He stated becoming emancipated required a court process. Eisinger further advised that unless employees of Planned Parenthood provided documentation from the court indicating that [redacted] is/was emancipated, [redacted] would be required to go with her father [redacted]. I was also advised, if employees at Planned Parenthood could not provided the documentation and did not allow access to [redacted] to send her with father, I should proceed with a criminal investigation against the involved employees citing Custodial Interference Section 26.28 as the charge.”
The officer, after finding out the girl wouldn't sign the form demanded that the girl be brought out “right now". The officer said that Smasne then became very “dramatic,” asking him what he was going to do when the girl’s father “murdered her, and dumped her in a ditch on the side of the road.” The officer, replied that “the matter was not up for debate.”
The officer spend 1/2 hr talking to the girl. All the time he was doing so he reports that staff members kept walking by the open door trying to hear what was being said. Finally, she was released to her father.
I am fairly sure that if the girl was as afraid of the father as Smasne claimed he wouldn't have released her to the father. Instead he probably would have done what was needed to get her away from the PP site & ensure she would be safe.
Besides intentionally exagerating the danger she was in we also see PP's complete disregard for parental rights & the law as well as those who have the job of enforcing it. She willingly lied to an officer & misrepresented the law. As I said, fortunately the officer wasn't buying that claim.
What this does is show the depths PP will go to to ensure an abortion is done. & while they don't do late term abortions, I suspect they do get a referal fee from to provider they would have sent her to.
The 1 thing missing in this entire story is any attempt by Planned Parenthood to ensure that the police were notified about a statuatory rape. If they hadn't called the police about the father, I doubt the police would ever have found out.
Next we head down to St. Louis for a more recent incident, last weekend to be exact.
On Saturday morning an ambulance showed up at the St. Louis site where they do abortions (up to 22 weeks). pro-life advocates saw a woman on a gurney being placed in the back of the emergency vehicle. She was taken to the emergency room at Barnes-Jewish-Christian Hospital. The woman’s head was covered & her body was motionless. Also, there was no IV bag or any other sign of ongoing emergency care. This lead the pro-life advocates to believe an abortion may have claimed her life. Also, there was no evidence that anyone from Planned Parenthood accompanied the woman to the hospital. (Note: several pictures were taken by the Pro-life advocates to back this up.)
Marty Bennet, 1 of the pro-life advocates, left a note offering assistance on the vehicle that accompanied the ambulance to the hospital. Later, the husband of the botched abortion victim contacted him to thank him for his concerns. He also indicated his wife is in stable condition.
This site has a long record of ambulances following the same routine. From June 2009 to April 2010 there were 10 times the same scenario took place.
& these are just 2 of many similar incidents that occur at PP sites across the USA.
So much for Cecile Richards claim PP is a safe place. Holding someone hostage & not caring enough about the harm done to a woman there isn't exactly what I would call safe, let alone ensuring progress for women's health care.

This is hardly a "safe place" for young delicate and innocent lives.

How about what PP did to Edrica Goode? Dead does not equal safe, in my lexicon.

Granny, Grazie for reminding people about Edrica Goode. & these are only a few examples of the real harm Planned Parenthood does. For all the stories we hear, how many more don't we hear about because the media covers it up? Or PP makes sure its fingerprints aren't there?
