Putting Things In Perspective

I came across this series of pictures in a post & Reaganite Republican (Keeping it All in Perspective...) It gives is an idea of our place in the universe. (click on any photo to enlarge)

Feeling small yet? Well here is how we look in comparison to the Sun:

Well, then how about when we compare our Sun to some of the bigger stars out ther?

& if that doesn't do it, this should:

Now lets's really move out, beyond the Milky Way, beyond our neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy, beyond our local neighborhood of galaxies. (You can click on the links to get the perspective these next steps show us.) This photo below was taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, an ultra-deep-field infrared shot of countless entire galaxies, billions and billions of light-years away...

& to give you an idea of what is in that area, here is a zoom of just one of just the darkest regions in the above photo...

& this is only a small part of the billions & billions of galaxies with billions & billions of stars.
Or as they put it on Animaniacs:

Got a little better idea of where we fit in now?
Now what does God's Word have to say about this?

Let's start with the 1st historical fact mentioned in the Bible. "In the beginning God created heaven and earth." (Genesis 1:1 emphasis mine) Or as John put it: "In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him. What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of men; and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it." (John 1:1-5) Got that?, nothing has come about by chanch. God made it all & is in charge even now.
Next stop Psalm 8:3-4 where the Psalmist looks at the above creation & asks:

"For I will behold your heavens, the works of your fingers: the moon and the stars which you have founded. What is man, that you are mindful of him? Or the son of man, that you visit him?"

Remember what God asked Job about who was running things: "Shalt thou be able to join together the shining stars the Pleiades, or canst thou stop the turning about of Arcturus?" (Job 38:31)

We read elsewhere in Job (9:7-10): "Who commandeth the sun and it riseth not: and shutteth up the stars as it were under a seal: Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and walketh upon the waves of the sea. Who maketh Arcturus, and Orion, and Hyades, and the inner parts of the south."

Still this same God that did all that he did "In the beginning" knows about each & every one of us individually. As Jesus, aka the Word made flesh, pointed out to his disciples: "Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows." (Matthew 10:29-31) Know we know the answer to Psalm 8.

The Word who was there at the beginning & through whom all things came into being told us the practical application of the above facts: "Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? " (Matthew 6:25)

So remember what Jesus said about not worrying &
