Baby Joseph - Still Fighting to Save Him

There is good news & bad news in the Baby Joseph story. The good news is that he is still on life support for now. The bad news is that the hospital in Michigan they hoped to transfer him to has decided against it.

But his parents haven't given up the fight. Thursday afternnon their lawyer announced that he will be trying to broker a deal with the hospital rather than going to court. Nothing as of yet ahs been announced either way. Meanwhile, the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee has yet to rule on the request by the hospital to allow them to go ahead with removing the breathing tube.

Naturally this case has drawn the attention of many pro-life groups in the US who are working to find another American hospital to take him. Not surprizing, the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network is 1 of those groups. On Thursday Bobby Schindler traveled up to Ontario to meet with the parents. He had this to say about the situation: “The family wants to bring their baby home and they’re being denied. That’s what our family - we were fighting for the same thing, really. To bring Terri home and to care for her and show her the compassion that really only a family can do.”

Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri’s sister had this to say: “The Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network stands with the family of Baby Joseph Maraachli,” she said. “It is unacceptable for Canadian Health Allocation Officials and/or the Canadian government to make decisions for baby Joseph and his family. Every patient, regardless of age, has a right to proper and dignified health care. It is frightening to once again see government usurp the God given rights of parents to love and care for their child at home.”

Meanwhile, a short video from last weekend of baby Joseph has come out. It shows that the hopsital's claim that Baby Joseph is in a "permanent vegetative state" is false. No wonder they banned any more video. 1 of the questions it raises is why are his hands tied down?

“How can a baby be in a vegetative state who has his hands tied - as we speak - for him to not pull out his tube?” asked Joseph’s aunt, Samar Nader. “How does a baby in a vegetative state respond to combing or tickling?” Here is that video.

The more I see, the more I am convinced that this is an attempt to end his life quickly to save money for the health care system. & that lies are being told to cover it up. Hopefully things will work out to give Baby Joseph the proper care he deserves. Keep praying.
