Heretical Habitless Hussie Honoered by HLI with Fall 2010 Millstone Award

Well, maybe honored isn't exactly the word for doing what it takes to earn Human Life International 's Millstone Award. Promoting a path that leads one away from the true path to salvation isn't exactly honorable no matter what the person may claim. & when you take a look at the Curriculum Vitae of Sr. Sandra Schneider IHM (photo left from Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary [IHM] website) you can see she has worked long & hard to deserve the award. For those of you who are unaware of it. the award name comes from a line in Scripture where Jesus said "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." (Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42, Luke 17:2)

Sandy is the latest in a long line of winners that includes several other infamous religious sisters like Sr. Donna Quinn, O.P (abortion clinic escort) & Sr. Joan Chittister OSB.

So what has she done to deserve this shameful recognition that HLI called "well deserved"? For 1 thing, like Joanie she is very active with Call to Action as a speaker at their conferences. The HLI article describes her as "a post-Christian with a thin veneer of Catholicism".

In 1991 she wrote Beyond Patching: Faith and Feminism in the Catholic Church. The book describes her personal views on the fundamentals of Christian & Catholic belief. In it she wrote "When the first Women's Ordination Conference met in Detroit in 1975, the women who attended were focused on...the admission of women to orders.....Since 1978, women have come to realize that...we are not talking about how to organize the institution. We are talking about whether the God of Judeo-Christian revelation is true God or just men-writ-large to legitimate their domination; whether Jesus, an historical male, is or can be messiah and savior for those who are not male; whether what the church has called sacraments are really encounters with Christ, or tools of male ritual abuse of women; whether what we have called church is a community of salvation or simply a male power structure."

The title of the book is her thesis, the Catholic Church is "beyond patching" & it is time to construct a whole new church because every aspect of the Catholic faith tradition "is not just tainted but perverted by the evil of patriarchy. It is not that the tradition has some problems; the tradition is the problem." She calls the Heirarchy "the root of sinful structures". Eradicating the Heirarchy is "nonnegotiable". It sounds to me like she doesn't approve of how God has run things for the past 2000 years & she thinks she can do a better job.

From her book Scripture From Scratch: "The Bible, although a witness to divine revelation, is a human text, not an oracle. God did not dictate the Bible any more than God literally created the universe out of nothing in seven calendar days. The biblical texts, then, bear all the marks of human composition: historical conditioning, prejudice, factual error and moral limitation, as well as deep theological and religious insight into the mystery of God ís relationship with humanity." For someone who claims she is teaching in the "Spirit of Vatican II" she might do well to read Dei Verbum to see how far off she is. Also, the type of god she wants isn't exactly a god so much as self-worship. "the mystery of God is relationship with humanity"???? Relationship????? That's all????? & she pretty much says God wasn't capable of getting His message to us as he should so now she has to step in & straighten up the mess God couldn't prevent.

But perhaps the worst damage is done by her as professor of New Testament Studies and Spirituality at Jesuit School of Theology, Santa Clara University, Berkeley. It is there that she is given a forum to destroy a new generation of minds & put them on the path to destruction by spreading the above mentioned garbage.

Sorry Sandy, but Pope John XXIII didn't say the Catholic Church had to change in the ways you want it to. Nor did the Council repudiate the World rejection it held before Vatican II. That world view it rejected is the same one it still rejects. You want the Catholic Church to be of the world. & both pre as well as post Vatican II the Church teaches to be in the world but not of it.

She has often written for the Non-Catholic Reporter. In 2009 she wrote Why they stay(ed) which made the LCWR look like they were poor innocents undergoing a persecution.

& this is only a part of what is out there.

But, I close on the same positive note the HLI article does. It points out she is part of a dying, outdated & exhausted movement whose time has passed. "The future belongs to young, energetic and faithful orders of nuns --- and this implacable and undeniable fact enrages the feminist sisters more than anything else."

As HLI asks: "Please pray that Sister Sandra Schneiders will put away her rage and pride and use her gifts to capture souls, not turn them away from the only true path to salvation."
