Celebrating Cristofero Columbo's historic voyage of discovery, that, despite what we were taught, half of the financing was from private Italian investors. Another myth is that Columbo was doing this purely for profit. WRONG!!! He was a very devout Catholic who wanted to spread the Gospel. As Pope Leo XIII pointed out "This view and aim is known to have possessed his mind above all; namely, to open a way for the Gospel over new lands and seas." (Quarto Abeunte Saeculo - On the Columbus quadricentennial)

So, for the PC crowd who don't like this whole joyous celebration of my paisan & his accomplishments, I have just 1 thing to say: "Shaddap A You Face!"
