I would describe this as a "Well, DUHHHHHHH!!!!!" headline.

& while I have no objection to stopping what totalled more than $180 million over the last 3 years if the Obama administration wants to really "cut spending sharply" as the article says, I think I can come up with a better way that will not only save over $1 Billion, it will save the lives of countless unborn children as well.

A recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report showed that between the years 2002 & 2009 over a billion dollars in federal funds was given to organizations that promote & even commit abortions. So where did the money go? Planned Parenthood got the biggest share with $657.1 million in tax dollars, their buddies at the Guttmacher Institute received $12.7 million, & the International Planned Parenthood Federation received $3.9 million. Some other groups were Population Council who received $284.3 million & Advocates for Youth who received $8.7 million.

Technically, the money does not directly pay for abortions, for the most part that is prevented by the Hyde amendment. But by paying for family planning programs (including birth control), paying the rent & utility bills for a Planned Parenthood office or providing the funds for pregnancy testing & counseling then you are freeing up money that will enable them to provide abortions. & let us not forget that many forms of birth contral/contraceptives are abortafacients.

Advocates for Youth has been shown that it helps minor girls dodge parental notification & consent requirements so that they can avoid the need for “a riskier procedure to end the pregnancy” & “complications from pregnancy.”

Let's take a look at PPFA’s own records They show that its affiliates committed 305,000 abortions in 2007 (the last reported year). Compare that to a scant 4,912 adoption referrals & 10,914 prenatal clients the same year. & how many of those 305+ thousand abortions came from people who went to PP for "family planning" or "birth control" that was funded by our tax money???

Then there is the Sexuality Information and Education Council for the United States (SIECUS). They got $1.6 million. They serve as recruiters, pointing their clients directly to the doors of the local abortion clinic.

Add to this state & local funding & you get a pretty good idea of how we are subsidizing the abortion industry.

Then there are groups that are lobbying for even more tax dollars to subsidize the abortion industry. A prime example here in Iowa is the Iowa Initiative that I mentioned in conjunction with my post on "Avoidthe stork.com." (Memo to Iowans: Avoid "Avoidthestork.com" ) As I said, they are working for more public funding on the state level for groups like PP. But even more directly, by their work with UNI & Uof I to create studies to help direct women to places like PP they are using state tax moneys to advance their agendas & create more business for abortion providers. Last year they brought in a speaker in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Public Health to promote their agenda. Then there is the fact that they work with Guttmacher to create studies to support their claims so they can lobby for more government funds.

FYI, the Iowa Initiative was launched by funds from the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (yes the 1 started by pro-abort Warren Buffett). The Buffett Foundation has given huge amounts to both Planned Parenthood & Marie Stopes International. So you can be sure that they didn't help start II to truly reduce the number of abortions or to hurt the abortion industry.

As I have pointed out before, much of what is being promoted as family planning etc is really a guise to promote eugenics & the elimination of minorities (Maafa 21). I don't know about you, but that is NOT how I want my tax dollars spent. I've got a better idea, lets get back to the Federal Government doing only what the Constitution actually allows it to do. & instead of taking this money out of our pockets to kill people, lets leave it in our communities where it can create jobs. Let's leave it in our pockets so we can support good charities that live out the Gospel message respecting the dignity of every human being, born or unborn.

Finally, if we don't turn away from this underwriting & promoting of the "culture of death" can we go on much longer before God's justice will require of us to answer for the crimes against humanity that we are perpetrating????? Soddom & Gomora had to answer for their immorality. & so will we.
