This is the book that the abortion industry hopes you will never read. Why? Because it tears away the curtain to show you what the abortion industry really means by "safe". & while it was written in 1996, it is just as pertanent today as it was then. The research done by Lila Rose, the recent sentencing in Caifornia of Bertha Bugarin, Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique's actions in Florida (& New York) proves that nothing has changed, including the industry's cover-ups & abortion supporters downplaying the truth. & with Obama & his radical pro-abortion administration, it is more important than ever that the truth get out there.

Before I go on & revue this book, I have to issue a strong warning about the graphic contents of the book. This book is not for the squeamish. It has to be graphic in its descriptions to get across the reality of what goes on in abortion clinics.

I have long said that what the abortion industry means by safe & legal is different from what it means to the rest of us. Their redefining the terms makes Humpty Dumpty in Through the Looking Glass look like a slacker. For the industry safe means safe from any outside interference, observation or regulation so it can do what it wants. Legal means that whatever it does, it won't be held to any legal standards that other medical professions are, like malpractice, safety & health requirements, etc. In other words, they can kill mame, cover up rape etc & get away with it.

Beofre I look at the contents, I need to explain a bit about how Mr. Crutcher presents the information. out of respect for the privacy of the injured women he uses aliases. For the abortionists he uses John or Erma Roe with a number for the specific abortionist. The clinics are refered to as Acme Reproductive Services (ARS) with a number. The number is consistant for all incidents involving an abortionist or clinic. As he explains: "The abortionists' & clinics' actual names are not used because I did not want the book to appear as a vendetta against any individual abortionist of facility." He also did so to prevnt the appearance that these are "the bad apples" & thus the exception rather than the rule as they really are. He does provide the sources in the endnotes so the original documents can be refered to.

The book is divided into 8 chapters. I am going to look at each chapter seperately to give you an idea of its contents. The 1st 7 look at different aspects of the ugly truth about the industry. I will deal with the contents of that chapter when I get to it.

Chapter 1 - Safe and Legal

This chapter is definitely the hardest chapter to read. There were times when I could barely get through 1 page without having to put it down. It goes into detail about the real price women pay for "the right to chose". It has to in order to accomplish what it sets out to do, to show how the abortion industry is anything but safe. the truth is, the industry fails to meet anything anywhere near the minimum safety standards that should be expected & are even with a tattoo parlor.

So what is this detail, the ugly truth of how abortions are botched more often than they like to admit. The results, women are MAIMED, & OFTEN KILLED as a result of the failure to maintain even minimal standards. & the ugly cover-ups that follow that resultin even more deaths etc. the problems range from unsterile conditions, misuse of anesthesia, dmages & perferated uteruses, damaged cervixes, incomplete abortions , etc. & often combinations of several injuries at the same time.

It is almost impossible to summarize the contents of this chapter. It is horror story after horror story. There will be times when you want to scream at what you read. & what you read is only scratching the surface of what they found, let alone what actually goes on.

Chapter 2 - The Canned Hunt

This chapter gets its name from the horrific practice of providing a "hunter" the opportunity to kill a wild animal in an environment where the animal has no chance to escape. In this case, it refers to the ugly reality of how often women who go to an abortionist find themselves in the same situation, "alone, drugged, powerless and with virtually no defense against the preditor."

This was the chapter that was never ment to be. But during their research they discovered how widespread rape & sexual assault is at abortion clinics. & what has come out is only a small fraction of what really goes on. It is estimated that only 16% of all rapes get reported. As the author points out, given the additional factors it is likely that the number reported is much lower.

Again this chapter goes into detail with many of the specific incidents. It does so in order to show the sickeness & perversness that pervades the industry.

Along the way, these 1st 2 chapters make mention of the cover ups that are done to protect the industry. the next 2 chapters go into detail about how that is done.

Chapter 3 - Speak No Evil

13 years ago, the abortion industry resisted every attempt at regulation. that same resistance is sitill being done under the guise of protecting a woman's right to chose. But, as has been pointed out time & time again that is a false claim. Any other surgury requires certain records be kept, certain protocols etc. & while the industry claims it is self-regulating & doesn't need the government to step in, the truth is much different.

This chapter looks at the 2 largest leaders in the abortion industry, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) & Planned Parenthood (PP). As you read how these groups have worked to hide the truth you will see many similarities to the recent reactions of PP to the work Lila Rose has done in investigating how they operate. Nothing has changed. Now, as then we see that pro-choice activists are willing to sacrifice women to protect their agenda of keeping abortion legal. As the author puts it: "It is exactly like a police department remaining silent about the fact that a serial rapist is loose in their city, to avoid embarrassment over not having caught him."

As Crutcher points out: "The operative attitude is: safe if possible, but legal regardless." But what makes this somewhat more palatable is "the fact that it is always someone else who pays the cost when safety is traded for legality."

this chapter also looks at the cover-ups of the dangers of saline abortion back in the early 80s. It also shows how the reality is that the overwhelming majority of illegal abortions were actually performed by physicians breaking the law, not dirty back alley clinics with coat hangers etc.

I can hear you saying, so where are the government agencies that should be protecting women & in particular the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) & even more specificly the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)? That question is answered in

Chapter 4 - Cooking the Books

In a sense, the title of this chapter tells it all. As you read this chapter I ask you to keep 1 fact in mind, that under current HHS director Kathleen Sibelius, things can only get worse. Why do I say that? Because at the time of the writing of the book, 1 of the big discoveries was how large a percentage of CDC employees had direct ties to the abortion industry. The result, flawed abortion data as a result of dishonesty & manipulation.

To understand how they do this, & in particular the Abortion Surveillence Branch (ASB), does it, you need to be aware of something called the Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD), a numerical coding system used to classify the causes of death. This code is used by the medical community, state health departments, & the CDC.

I think you can see where the book is heading. It is described as creative coding. There are also many other reasons that are examing in this chapter. It also looks at how the CDC works hand in hand with the industry to cover up, manipulate & massage the facts. It also looks at what the CDC does & doesn't readily report as well as the difference in how it handles abortion as compared to the tobacco industry. & remember the FDA (a part of HHS) is about to be put in control of the tobacco industry. I guarentee you that you will not see it treated like the abortion industry should that occur.

Chapter 5 - Vacent Souls

This chapter takes a look at the abortion providers & the toll being in the industry takes on them. The recent claims about Tiller being a hero to the contrary, the truth is much different, & much uglier than they would have you know. This is the chapter that shows how abortion destroys everyone involved. & it is not a pretty picture.

This is the chapter I recently found the info about the relationship between Zyklon-B & RU-486 in. & that is only a part of the similarities in how the Nazis handled the murder of the millions of Jews & the industry handles the murder of multi-millions of unborn.

A lot of this chapter looks at Abortion Provider Distress, the result of abortionists being "tapped between a belief in the legality of abortion and the undeniable reality that it is the taking of a human life."

This chapter also makes an interesting point about what happenned the last time they had a pro-abortion president. It didn't turn out quit as expected. & it seems like history is about to repeat itself. Very little has changed with the real problems. & under Bush 43 they were again able to avoid them. But not any more.

The abortion industry has covered up the emotional/psychological damage done to women who have an abortion, men who have a child aborted & other family members. It has done just as good a job covering up the ugly facts documented in this chapter.

Chapter 6 - The Hidden Killer

This chapter looks at another fact the industry has tried to hide, the relationship between abortion & brest cancer. Given how PP is using Susan G. Komen for the Cure as a cover, this chapter is very timely. Solid evidence of the link between abortion & an increase in breast cancer has been arround for over 25 years. Yet it has, like so much else, been ignored, manipulated or downright denied. Since this chapter was written much more evidence has been discovered. Chapter 7 - Just Sit Down and Shut Up!

This chapter looks at the was the deck is stacked against abortion malpractice (ABMAL) victims. Often in ways that don't exist for other types of medical malpractice. This chapter looks at all the problems & what true tort reform should look like. It covers way too many things to efectively summarize here, but it is a very important look on the reform needed to provide more legal tools to get the truth out.

Chapter 8 - A Contract With American Women

offers some suggestions on ways to restore the minimum standards of care found elsewhere in health care. Here the author makes 1 niave assumption that has been proven false over the past 13 years, that it is only the most radical advocates of unrestricted abortion that would oppose these basic checks & balances. The chapter provides 9 proposals. I will only look at 1, the proposal to reform the standards for informed concent. I take this 1 because it is the 1 that pops up the most often when even the laws on consent come up. The industry tries to claim that requiring any information isn't required. This section shows how different abortion is treated than any other type of surgury ever is.

As I said, this book was written in 1996. The recent events I mentioned at the start show that nothing has changed. I would like to see a sequel to this book simply because it is needed. If only to provide us with more tools to use in our battle to build a "culture of life". As you have seen, the truth is being covered up The industry is being aided & abetted by the government, the news media & the medical profession itself. New info to prove nothing has changed would be great. But even with this info from 13 years ago, we can at least reach a few people with the truth. & every mind we change with the truth is 1 step closer to put an end to the wholesale slaughter of the innocent unborn.

Hopefully, I have done a fair job of looking at this book & giving you an idea of what is in it. I hope & pray that you go away wanting to get this book & read it. I hope that you will see how as well as why this is an important tool in our efforts. Esp now with Obama in the White House.
