Here are some stories about what is going on in Kansas in relation to Gov. Sebelius' buddy Tiller. So far I haven't seen a word in the Main Stream Media (MSM) about any of them. To be fair (unlike much of the MSM) I may have missed them because of how far down they have buried them. But other than the attention that the media absolutely has to give in Kansas, I think that I can rest assured the MSM will kepp this as low key as they can to prevent any embarrasment that might reult in an outcry before Sebelius is approved at HHS.
An ambulance left Tiller's abortion facility mid-afternoon yesterday, (12 March 2009) and transported a woman to Wesley Medical Center with no lights or sirens running. The patient was rushed into the emergency room with her head covered, leaving witnesses to wonder if she was alive or dead.
Tiller followed the ambulance to Wesley Medical Center and was dropped off by unlicensed "nurse" Cathy Reavis at an entrance on the east side of the building, out of sight from Operation Rescue staffers who were photographing the incident near the Emergency Room entrance.
The infamous abortionist faces 19 charges of breaking a state late-term abortion law that requires an unaffiliated, second doctor to confirm that a woman needs a late-term abortion for serious health reasons. Tiller allegedly maintained a close financial and legal relationship with fellow abortionist Ann Kristen Neuhaus, who gave consent to Tiller's numerous late-term abortions.
The jury will consist of the usual six members, rather than the twelve requested by Tiller's attorneys. Opening arguments are scheduled to begin on Monday, March 23. If convicted, Tiller faces up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine for each count. Assistant Attorney General Barry Disney told a potential jury pool that he expects the trial to last only two days.
In the abortions, Tiller should have followed state law requiring a concurring signature from a second physician who is not legally or financially affiliated with him. Instead, Tiller used an affiliated associate, abortion practitioner Ann Kristin Neuhaus, with whom he has a financial working relationship.
The second physician is supposed to validate whether the mother will face "substantial and irreversible" harm to "a major bodily function" without the abortion -- the lone times when a late-term abortion can be done legally.
I suspect that once the trial begins there will be just as little coverage by the MSM as there has been up to now. & if he is convicted, to see how they handle that, bury it or make him a martyr?
It will be interesting to see if Sibelius' confirmation is rushed through the Senate. & if she is approved, if she pardon's Tiller before she steps down as governor.
