Can You Count the Lies & 1/2 Truths

WASHINGTON, March 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today after President Obama signed an executive order lifting the Bush Administration's restrictions on federally financed human embryonic stem cell research:
"By lifting the executive ban on federal funding for stem cell research, President Obama has given hope, and potentially health, to millions. Every family in America is just one diagnosis, one phone call, or one accident away from needing the benefits of embryonic stem cell research.
"Today President Obama has also restored science to its rightful place in our national debates. Scientists must be allowed to pursue the research that they believe has the most promise to cure. And when they do, America remains a world leader in innovation, discovery, and growth.
"If we have a scientific opportunity to treat and cure disease, we have a moral opportunity to support it. That is why Congress will move to pass legislation to make this executive order the law of the land."

Here are a few:
1. There never was a "ban on federal funding of stem cell research". The only ban was on funding of research using some types of embryonic stem cell sources.
2. "needing the benefits of embryonic stem cell research" What benefits???? She is making it sound like there are already ESC treatments out there. Talk about misdirection.
3. "restored science to its rightful place in our national debates" Where do I start with this 1? Who's science? Hitler's? Rightful place? What debate? The Pro-Life side has always been willing to debate the facts. How do you debate someone who refuses to as they do? To them, the rightful place is to ignore any moral or ethical standards & basically say evil is the only thing that even has a place at the table.
4. "The most promise" - She knows, they know that ESC doesn't hold the most promise, adult & umbilical cord stem cells have already gone beyond promise, to real hope.
5. "World leader" in dealing evil. We are a leader in using moral sources.
6. As for her line about the moral obligation to support, does she realize that she is admitting to the Dems, the MSM & others failure to support & at times cover up the suceesses of ethical stem cells is immoral?
7. As for funding, watch & see how much they give to ethical sources. I can guarentee you that it will be even less than the funding they give now.
As Thomas Peters ar American Papist said: "That's right, Pelosi, give the bishops the evidence they need to excommunicate you." (Pelosi-Watch: enacts Obama's ESCR-decision, calls it "moral opportunity") I don't know about excommunication, I'll leave that to his father. But at the least she has gotten rid of any last excuse that either Archbishop Wuerl in DC or her Bishop, Archbishop Niederauer in San Francisco might find to say they won't tell her to at least refrain from going to Communion. She has handed it to them on not merely a silver platter, but a gold one. I highly doubt they will though.
It is also clear how much she let what the Pope say to her sink in either. NOTHING!!!!!
