Some Good News From Abroad. . . & Here at Home

While it seems that much of the news lately has been focusing on Obama's leading the march in a total sellout to the "culture of death" there are some bits of good news. Here are a a few of those stories. (Follow links for entre story)

"The Fiji government has filed legal papers in an attempt to stop Sachida Mudaliar from reopening his medical practice. Mudaliar is still on trial after having been previously found guilty of the death of student Poonam Kumar from a botched abortion he did on her."
"Mudaliar wants to reopen his medical practice and says he should have the right to do so because his original conviction was quashed in favor of a new trial."
"Attorneys for Mudaliar say he should have the right to reopen his medical practice because his original conviction was quashed in favor of a new trial. Naidu Law, the law firm representing the embattled physician, said their client had the right to engage in medicine again despite killing a patient."
"Officials found Kumar dead at Mudaliar's abortion business in Nabua, after he left her overnight in his abortion business following her death.

(The judge at the original trial) Gates, in his ruling, said Mudaliar was guilty of botching the abortion and guilty of gross negligence in the case.
Gates said Mudaliar knew that Kumar was at risk if she underwent the abortion. She was 20 weeks pregnant at the time and had excessive bleeding and shock after the abortion. The abortion tore her uterus and led to the massive bleeding.
In his ruling, Gates cited Mudaliar's failure to transfer Kumar to the intensive care unit at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital once he noticed the abortion went awry.
"
Sadly, only1 of the 2 victims may get justice under Fiji law. But this is just another piece of mounting evidence of what "women's reproductive rights" is really about. It isn't about the women. It is about making a buck from murder. It is about people who are cruel & heartless, not people who really care about women.
"Despite fierce opposition, political maneuvering, and disruptive protests meant to stop the process, the Congress of the Mexican State of Puebla has approved an amendment protecting the right to life "from the moment of conception to natural death, except in cases foreseen by law."
The amendment, which was passed 29-10 with two abstentions, will prevent abortion from being legalized in Puebla in imitation of the 2007 Mexico City abortion law, which allows abortion on demand throughout the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
However, the amendment will leave exceptions to the criminalization of abortion in the state's criminal code intact. Currently, all Mexican states have laws depenalizing abortion in cases such as rape or fetal deformity."
This is just a step in the right direction since some abortions are still legal.
"several representatives from liberal and socialist parties flew by helicopter to speak to the state's governor, claiming the amendment would violate the state's constitution, according to the Jornada del Oriente newspaper. "
Will someone explain to me how a validly passed amendment to a Constitution violates it?
"Homosexual and feminist protestors clogged the area outside of the Congress, and even entered the floor in an attempt to block the movement of legislators. "
Sounds like how I've been treated by pro-aborts at peaceful demonstrations against abortion. The anti-life, pro-murder crowd claims we are violent, yet, time & time again, what is the exception on the Pro-Life side is proven to be the norm on the pro-abortion side.
"Members of the socialist Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), however, said they would appeal to Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice to overturn the law, claiming that it violates international human rights agreements signed by Mexico. Critics of such claims say that pro-abortion forces are reading abortion rights into such agreements, which do not mention the "right" to kill the unborn."
If the Mexican Supreme Court rules in favor of the PRD appeal, watch out. That will give fuel for the pro-aborts to have our courts do the same thing. We need to keep this in prayer.
Finally, this article pretty much speaks for itself. We have a state that knows what is good, for life & for the economy. This story stands in stark contrast to what Obama did & claims:
The Oklahoma House of Representatives Thursday voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bill that would make it illegal to conduct research that would harm or kill an unborn child, including embryonic stem-cell research. The House also voted to invest in adult stem cell research.

House Bill 1326 passed in an 82-6 vote before being sent to the state Senate.

"For me personally, this is the single-most important issue we deal with as legislators: protecting the right to life," said Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City, the bill's sponsor.

"The idea that we should condone the harvesting of children for 'well intentioned' research runs counter to all morality. Human embryos are human beings and the state cannot condone their destruction for research purposes."

"The inalienable right to life is fundamental to all our liberties as Americans," said Rep. Pam Peterson. "Protecting that right means we must protect all citizens, and that includes the most innocent lives: unborn children."

"There are different stages of life and the first stage of life - an embryo - deserves protection and respect just as much as other children, adults, and the elderly," said state Rep. Sally Kern.

At the same time, House legislators passed another bill granting more than $1 million to adult stem cell research. That bill was introduced by Rep. John Enns, and it passed 99-0.

Enns, who was confined to a wheelchair after a car accident, is a potential recipient of future adult stem cell therapy.

"Adult stem cell therapies may hold the cures for many diseases - Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, heart failure, cancers - and there are already nearly 70 research treatments that use adult stem cells," said Enns.

"By focusing on this promising research, Oklahoma can attract new businesses, create new high-paying jobs, potentially save lives, and do it all without the ethical compromises required by funding embryonic stem cell research."
I have to add 1 comment. The fact that House member Enns stands to benefit from a bill he introduced is 1 time that I don't might what would seem to be a conflict of interest. It is clear he knows what kind of research is working & does offer hope, so I would call his bill expert testimony instead.
