1st Monday in October - A Day of Mourning

PRO-LIFE MEMORIAL DAY REMEMBERS VICTIMS OF ABORTION HOLOCAUST
Washington, DC (15 August 2008) – To date, abortion has claimed the lives of 49,640,776 preborn babies - more if you count those killed by contraception. Monday, October 6, 2008, has been designated a day of mourning for all those affiliated with the pro-life cause to remember the victims of this particular brand of decriminalized murder."
In 1973, through the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, the Supreme Court took it upon itself to steal personhood and all rights associated with personhood from the preborn children of the United States," said Erik Whittington, director of youth outreach at American Life League.
Citizens will gather at the U.S. Supreme Court building, abortion facilities and pro-life memorials around the country for prayer vigils, demonstrations and memorial services wearing the official Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirts or armbands available at www.prolifememorialday.com .
"This year, Oct. 6 marks the first day of the Supreme Court's term as a reminder to the nation that these children's hidden and court-sanctioned deaths will not be forgotten," said Whittington. "Pro-lifers are determined to end abortion, stand up for human life and proclaim the personhood of the preborn from the marble halls of government to the classrooms of our nation's schools."
"We invite the entire pro-life movement to join us in memory of our lost brothers and sisters and pray to end the atrocity of abortion," Whittington said.
American Life League was co-founded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.
