Who won?
Let's see:
I'm a New York Jets fan, they weren't in it.
I'm a Minnesota Vikings fan, they weren't in it either.
So, who won?
WHO CARES!!!!!
(As Rhett said to Scarlett: "Frankly my dear, I don't give a reservoir!" H/T The Sonny & Cher Show)
& while I have to say I understand the trademark protection that the NFL wants to maintain on the logo, et al, their being so overly protective that getting up in arms about a few Churches having Super Bowl parties using the term "Super Bowl" just makes them look petty & greedy. Basically they said they don't give a damn about our fans unless we can rip them off for a buck or 2. NFL wake up, there is a point where you WILL so alienate your fan base that you will have to price yourselves out of existence to make up for the lost revenue.
A DBQ watering hole had a great ad showing how ridiculous the NFL is by advertising their place by having the words "Super Bowl", "Patriots" & "Giants" partially bleeped out while 1 of the people in the ad kept reminding the other he couldn't use those words in an ad or promo for the place.
As for the Churches who are being attacked by the NFL, given how obscene some of the recent ads have become (making Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction look innocuous, FCC where are you?), maybe it isn't such a bad thing that you can't have these parties.
