American Life League - 2007 Year In Review

Often it seems that the battle to end the holocaust that is legalized abortion is going nowhere. I thank God that is not true. A while ago I shared a message from Fr. Pavone from Priests for Life (10 Reasons Pro-Life IS WINNING!) Today I'd like to share more good news. This time from American Life League on the fruit born in 2007 by the work they are doing.

- ALL projects

StoP Planned Parenthood

Rock for Life

- Planned Parenthood closed 29 clinics in 2007

- PP ended 2007 with 814 non-express clinics - the lowest number since 1986

- ALL has begun creating videos for bloggers to post as well as their own blogs

- Planned Parenthood Map Room (info on locations of PP facilities & regularly sceduled protests at those site)

- 5th National Pro-Life T-shirt Day (4th Tuesday in April)

- 3rd Pro-Life Memorial Day (1st Monday in October)

- Judie Brown published Saving Those Damned Catholics (An excellent book that really lays it on the line & challenges Catholic priests & Bishops to do their job of authentic Catholic teaching of life issues. I can't recommend this book highly enough.)

- Worked for enforcement of Canon law 915 by every Catholic Bishop

- ALL's resouce department distrubuted nearly 1 quarter of a million pieces of informational literature, t-shirts & other Pro-Life gear

- Spekers in over 100 cities

- Rock for Life Summer Tour - covered 25,000 miles & presented the Pro-Life message to over 250,000 young people

- Training & Activism Weekend - 3 day event, January 2007 in DC; 3 other 1 day events in other locations during the year

- Long time educational efforts aimed at elected officials bore fruit in that, for the 1st time, the US House of Representatives voted specifically on PP tax funding. 45% of the Representatives voted against funding PP.

As I said before, it won't be easy, but we are on the right side, thus we are on what WILL BE the winning side. Fr. Thomas Euteneuer's (Human Life International) article I posted, Is The Pro-Life Movement Up to This Challenge?, gives us some things we can do. Priests for Life provides some excellent resources for educating voters on the issues & getting involved. Each of us needs to be active locally.

But we also need to support the orginizations I have mentioned in this post as well as other Pro-Life groups, local & national. Part of that support includes financial support. Papa Benedetto talked about almsgiving in his 2008 Lenten Message. Alms aim at helping those in need. The unborn who are threatened by abortion are clearly those most in need. & a part of your almsgiving should (in my opinion MUST) include giving money to these groups so they can continue their efforts in defending life. They are at the battlefront. They are providing us with the tools we need. They have enabled us to be successful in all our victories. Please, PLEASE, PLEASE support them financially so they can continue to do so. The fruit this support will bear will last throughout eternity in ways we can not even imagine at this time.
