& the Losers Are (Razzies 2008)

On 25 January I did a post on the nominees for this year's Razzie Awards. The Razzie's are given to the year's worst & are announced 1 day before the Oscars. Well, they announced this year's winners last night. This year saw several new records set. This is the 1st time a single picture won 8 awards (I Know Who Killed Me), Eddie Murphy won 3 awards for his various roles in Norbit. & Lindsay Lohan won 3 for her various roles in I Know Who Killed Me. & while it wasn't the 1st time there was a tie for worst actress, this was the 1st time an actress tied with herself, & for 2 roles in the same movie to boot.

There was only 1 award that didn't go to Norbit or I Know Who Killed Me. & that 1 had a connection to Eddie Murphy. The Worst Sequel or Prequel award went to Daddy Day Camp, a sequel to Murphy's Daddy Day Care.

Anyhow, here are the complete list of the worst of the worst 2007:

Worst Picture:
I Know Who Killed Me
(Sony/Tri-Star)

Worst Actor:
Eddie Murphy (as Norbit)
NORBIT

Worst Actress (TIE) :
Lindsay Lohan (as Aubrey) and
Lindsay Lohan (as Dakota)
I KNOW WHO KILLED ME

Worst Supporting Actress:
Eddie Murphy (as Rasputia)
NORBIT

Worst Supporting Actor:
Eddie Murphy (as Mr. Wong)
NORBIT

Worst Screen Couple:
Lindsay Lohan and
Lindsay Lohan (as The Yang to Her Own Yin)
I Know Who Killed Me

Worst Remake Or Rip-off:
I Know Who Killed Me
Rip-Off of HOSTEL, SAW and THE PATTY DUKE SHOW

Worst Prequel or Sequel:
Daddy Day Camp
(Sony/Tri-Star/Revolution)

Worst Director:
Chris Siverston
I Know Who Killed Me

Worst Screenplay:
I Know Who Killed Me
Written by Jeffrey Hammond

Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie:(New Category!)
I Know Who Killed Me
(Sony/Columbia)

I don't know if "Congratulations!" or "For Shame!" is the more appropriate thing to say to this years winners (losers). But what is really sad, this year's Razzies are much more interesting than this years Oscars. & that really says something about the sad state of Hollywood. & given this year's batch of movies it looks like the competition will be even rougher for the 29th Annual Awards.
