God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth." Genesis 1:27-28
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body. Genesis 2:24
How do all these things tie in together, simple. Genesis tells us that God created man & woman to be married & of 1 flesh.
Part of the call to be one is to be fruitful & have children, within the context of marriage. That means chastity & celebacy outside of marriage.
But it also means that any child that is conceived through sexual relations is to be welcome regardless of the circumstances of his or her conception.
The 2 saints who's feast we celebrate this day preached that message of love & welcoming children. & that abortion is always wrong. (From day 1 the Church has opposed abortion. Read the Didache if you doubt me.)
Leyt's honor those saints by doubling our efforts to protect the unborn.
