I am referring to the birth of Julien Dubueq (aka Dubuque) for whom the city I live in is named after. Today marks the 250th Anniversary of his birth in the village of St. Pierre les Brecquets (? Becquets), County of Nicolet, on the
south bank of the St. Lawrence, about twenty leagues above Quebec.
Unfortunately, this important date has been all but ignored by the city named after him. Which is a shame. It would have been fun to party like it's 1762.
______________
In 2010 I put up a post about the 200th Anniversary of his death that has a little more about him. Or you can follow the link above to a more detailed bio.
