Planned Parenthood Following True to Form
Not that any of us are surprized. As I said in my post yesterday about the latest Live Action video from a visit to a Bronx PP clinic "The video is unedited, but you can be sure that PP & friends will again attack it as heavily edited, etc." & sure enough, PP did just that.
PPFA's Stuart Schear, Vice President for Communications, put out a long statement Tuesday. Early on it says "Planned Parenthood of New York City has reviewed this video carefully, and it is clear that the video cannot be trusted. The conversation as portrayed on this doctored videotape is not accurate."
Then it has a section with this title "These tapes are clearly doctored and cannot be trusted." It talks about "hoax patients", "edited tape" & how this is an effort to undermine PP to get it to lose funds. All the usual. It then goes on to give along attack on the so-called history of Live Action doing the same hatchett job again & again. Nowhere does it mention the unedited tapes were put out on all these. & of course 1 of PP's reliable backers refered to in this is Media Matters of recent the CDC Abortion cover up isn't real fame.
They must be feeling the heat at PPFA since this statement is the 1st one that have put up on their website about the latest investigation by Live Action. I suspect they have found that despite their lies, attacks on Live Action etc, that this story isn't going to go away soon. & that they are facing real problems. They are under serious investigation by at least a couple state Attorneys General. (Virginia attorney general: Planned Parenthood shows ‘open willingness’ to aid sex trafficking) The move to defund PP on both state & Federal levels is gaining strength. (See story links below)
Perhaps that is why that same statement included the following announcement: "In addition, Planned Parenthood just announced an April 1, 2011, deadline for all health center staff and educators who have contact with patients and teens be retrained in understanding our policies and procedures for responding to situations that indicate that the welfare of a minor is endangered."
Schear told the New York Times the training would include special classes designed to educate staffers with state & local laws in the jurisdiction of the abortion business. The classes would be for any staff who interface with the public. They would not involve policy changes but enforcement of what local laws require.
“We’re doing this to reassure the public that we take these reporting requirements seriously,” Schear told the Times After that, “termination of employment is the only possible action,” for those who violate the procedures. “We are not asking the front-line health worker or receptionist to do a legal analysis of the situation, but rather to report it when there is any hint of a risk to the welfare of a minor.”
“We’re doing this to reassure the public that we take these reporting requirements seriously,” Schear told the Times After that, “termination of employment is the only possible action,” for those who violate the procedures. “We are not asking the front-line health worker or receptionist to do a legal analysis of the situation, but rather to report it when there is any hint of a risk to the welfare of a minor.”
Interesting, that the same PP employees who didn't do anything wrong (initially including the later fired NJ employee) now need to be retrained. From the Schear statement: "Like other encounters that have been recently publicized in Virginia, our staff responded professionally to questions, discussed these encounters with management, and provided a report to the FBI." (emphasis mine) If they behaved professionally, why the need for traing?
As for the New Jersey incident, that statment makes an interesting claim. "It is also important to remember that Planned Parenthood acted swiftly when the initial publicized video, taped at a New Jersey health center, showed a now former Planned Parenthood staff member engaging in behavior that is appalling, inconsistent with Planned Parenthood’s practices, and in violation of Planned Parenthood’s policies. Planned Parenthood has a zero tolerance policy for this behavior and the employee was immediately terminated for violating Planned Parenthood’s high standards of health care and ethical conduct." Was she???? Didn't they say she acted properly & contacted CJPP immediately after the incident? & only fired her after the tape came out?
Lila Rose had the following to say about PP's latest retraining “This announcement by Planned Parenthood is nothing more than window dressing to try and patch over a major crisis engulfing all levels of Planned Parenthood – from the front line staffer to the hierarchy of the organization. Live Action’s investigation has uncovered aserious, institutional crisis in which Planned Parenthood is willing to aid and abet sex trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women.”
“Planned Parenthood’s story keeps changing. First they attacked Live Action – while admitting guilt and firing their New Jersey manager. “Planned Parenthood can’t keep their story straight because our clear and unequivocal footage shows their staff willfully assisting sextrafficking of underage girls. Our investigation clearly shows that minors and young women are at grave risk when they walk through the doors of Planned Parenthood.”
“What kind of organization hires employees who have to be repeatedly trained and retrained to be concerned when presented with unambiguous evidence that children are being raped and prostituted?”
“Planned Parenthood’s story keeps changing. First they attacked Live Action – while admitting guilt and firing their New Jersey manager. David Schmidt, also of Live Action, had this to say: “So Planned Parenthood made no admission of guilt yet they are launching this major training effort. It sounds like a PR move instead of actually taking the problem seriously. It begs the question.
If Planned Parenthood believed that their staff was acting professionally in the videos we recorded then why do a retraining? Planned Parenthood is trying to have it both ways. If they believe that they have a problem that requires retraining then they should be forthcoming about what they believe the nature of the problem is.”
Schmidt added: “And let’s not forget that just days ago, Planned Parenthood’s Vice President Stuart Schear said that, “There is no training that could prevent this from happening. This was a complete breakdown in judgment. We don’t understand what happened with this employee.’”

No training to prevent this, then there is training??? Mr Schear which is it????? Makes me wonder what the "training sessions" will really talk about. Maybe how to avoid getting caught. I doubt they will change spots for real & not push for their affiliates to start obeying the law.
Speaking of Schear, something very interesting came out about him. It turns out that he hadn't seen the entire tape that he was going around saying was editted. An O'Reilly producer caught him on tape & forced him to admit it. Here is the transcript of the linked video:

OOPS!!!!! Yet he is going arround acting like he knows it is edited. Live Action has the O'Reilly video along with the abridged & unedited tapes posted on their blog. Schmidt callenges Schear & the rest of us to compare: "Compare the two. Planned Parenthood, what is doctored? You are making serious allegations. What specifically was doctored?
The truth is, the video is accurate just like all our of past investigative videos. You have no real defense so instead of coming clean, you lie to the public. This is child sexual abuse we are talking about. Did you get that? The public sees through your games and they won’t stand for it."
Yes, the public is wising up. & that is just what PP & the rest of the "culture of death" DON"T want. I suspect there are more videos to come. I would expect that by now PP has a good idea of what lies ahead. I am sure they sent out an APB to all the affiliates to contact PPFA.

I'd like to know if any PP site did the right thing. & if so, I would like to see Live Action issue that tape & see how PP deals with it.
I do think more is yet to come. & it won't be pretty for PP. PP knows it. & this whole statement thing Tuesday was another PP premptive strike. If it is, it is probably too little too late.
