IMHO the answer is simple. GLAAD knows that if they sit down to an honest debate about the issues they can't win.
GLAAD issued a statement that said Sprigg, “has worked to advance some of the most hurtful, dangerous, and demonstrably false notions about the lives of LGBT people that our country has seen in recent years.”
They went on to say “CNN needs to stop elevating anti-gay opinions to the level of the actual experts who they SHOULD be talking to; people like scholars, historians, professionals, or folks with actual experience (not just animosity).”
You would think that if these acusations were true then GLAAD would welcome an opportunity to show how Sprigg's notions were demonstrably false.
I suspect GLAAD would not welcome people who have been involved in Exodus International or Courage Apostalate either. The men & women who have been helped by those groups would be speaking from "actual experience" but since GLAAD sees any viewpoint opposed to theirs as filled with animosity they wouldn't be any more welcome by GLAAD. Never mind that GLAAD has clearly shown animosity towards them because they chose a path that isn't a lifestyle GLAAD promotes. In short GLAAD is NOT looking for an open & honest debate on the issues. All they want is an opportunity to promote their agenda & bash anyone who dares to say that the lifestyle GLAAD is promoting is wrong. Or to put it another way GLAAD labels any disagreement with their view as gay bashing no matter how valid or morally correct, but GLAADF bashing their opponants is OK. Don't you just love the hypocricy & double standard GLAAD is operating under????
I Bring You GLAAD Tidings of Great Ploys...
It may be the New Year, but homosexual activists aren't resolving to engage in civil debate! The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is throwing a temper tantrum that CNN invited pro-marriage experts (specifically our pro-marriage expert
Peter Sprigg) on "John King, USA" for a fair debate on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." To try and bully the network, GLAAD launched a petition
demanding that CNN air lopsided discussions that feature only pro-homosexual guests. So far, the petition is struggling to get off the ground--and it's also struggling to get any traction at CNN. In a statement, CNN executives reiterated the need for give-and-take on these issues. "CNN appreciates GLAAD's concern for objective and fair reporting. CNN will continue to strive for the best booking of experts who have opinions that reflect different points of view across the country." When homosexual activists are trying to silence debate, we need to encourage the media who refuse to be intimidated.
Take a couple minutes to thank CNN for standing up for real dialogue.
