Ring, Ring, Telephone Ring!
A few weeks ago, as a public service I put up a couple videos to help some people learn to deal with the latest in technology, dial phones. I recently came across a few more videos from the good old days about learning to use a dial phone. & while these videos are mostly before my time, I was arround when my hometown got direct dialing. We went from a 4 digit,1 letter (NNNN-L) number to the current 7 digit number. & some parts of the USA didn't get direct dialing until the mid 70s.
& yes, we had a 2 party line in town. Private lines were extra, just like touch tone was for many years. It wasn't until the 80s that we finally were able to dial direct overseas. & as for cell phones/mobile phones. Well that's a story for another day. Just another reminder for you young whippersnappers of how easy you have it today as compared to the good old days when we had to walk 5 miles to & from school, uphill both ways in 3 feet of fresh fallen snow.
