A few years ago
American Life League began celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation, 25 as the Day of the Preborn. The Feast of the Annunciation commemorates the apprearance of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary telling her that she was to be the mother of the Son of God, Jesus our Lord & Savior. (
Luke 1:26-38) Thus it is very fitting we celebrate this day as a special day of prayer for the unborn. ALL & many local right to life groups sponsor a special Mass to pray for the safe delivery of all preborn babies.
ALL is asking that all expectant mothers contact them to submit the names of their preborn children to be especially prayed for at that Mass.
Here in DBQ The Mass is co-sponsered by
DBQ Co Right to Life & the Knights of Columbus. It will be held at St. Raphael's Cathedral. The Mass will be @ 7 pm & the main celebrant will be retired Archbishop Daniel Kucera, The Mass will be proceeded @ 6:30pm with The Rachel Rosary. There will be a reception following the Mass in the Cathedral Center. The Cathedral is located at 231 Bluff St.
Many other right to life groups, KC councils & dioceses also sponsor a Mass on or near that date. Please check with your local Pro-Life group or diocesan Respect Life office for more info. & if there isn't 1 in your area, consider organizing 1. It still isn't too late.
25 March is also the start of the Novena for the Protection of ALL Preborn Children. ALL is also responsible for starting this some years ago. they ask that from 25 March to 2 April you pray the closing prayer from Pope Jon Paul's encyclical
Evangelium vitae. (below)
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.
As I have said time after time, prayer must be the foundation of everything we do. Here are 2 excellent & powerful opportunities to join together in prayer. remember what Jesus said about 2 or more praying & asking in agreement according to His Will.
