Jeff Miller @ The Curt Jester came up with a great idea after reading about the attempt in Montgomery County Council pushing a law to require that the four pregnancy centers in Montgomery County that don't provide abortion services to present potential clients with disclaimers in English and Spanish that the information given by the center isn't intended as "medical advice or to establish a doctor patient relationship." It would also require the centers to tell potential clients that they should consult with a health care provider before making decisions about their pregnancies. His idea was to have the signs say the following:
Warning: This clinic does not perform abortions. We do not dismember children in the womb or attack them with chemicals. We provide actual help to pregnant women and their children.
Another suggestion:
Warning: This clinic does not perform abortions. We do not dismember children in the womb or attack them with chemicals. We provide actual help to pregnant women.
As he says "what is good for the Goose is good for the Gander. If you are required to post what you don't do, abortion clinics should have signs like this." So he has come up with the following ideas for signs to post at abortion clinics:
We only perform abortions. If you want assistance in having your child we will do absolutely nothing for you. If you are considering adopting your child, again we will do nothing for you. There is no money in those services, but we can make a killing on abortion.
This Planned Parenthood clinic is for one choice only. If you do not want to abort your child keep walking. Our paid counselors will advise you only to abort. We are the number one abortion provider for a reason.
This womens' health care clinic is not really about a womens health. Aborting your child will not make you one bit healthier and might even damage your health and your capability to have children in the future.
Surgeon General's Warning. If you are sensitive to euphemisms in any way this clinic is not for you. While you are here you will be pounded with euphemisms of every sort from talking about "choice" to dehumanizing the child in your womb. We have a euphemism for everything to make the truth of abortion more palatable.
As I have pointed out before, the sign requirements are simply an attempt to harrass the Pro-Life pregnancy centers. These centers are cutting into the business of the abortion centers by providing true alternatives. The abortion centers, including Planned Parenthood are unhappy that they are loosing blood money. So they think these signs will drive people away. The truth is, it will probably have the opposite effect. Bringing more people in. & then we will see the real harrassment start. They will use every minutea in the law to show how these centers aren't following the law to try & shut them down. meanwhile we all know how the same officials look the other way when the abortion clinics cover up rape & incest. & more often than not look the other way rather than enforce health regulations etc.
Acts like these are acts of desperation. They see that, even with the biggest abortion fans running the White House & Congress, their agenda isn't exactly going as expected.* While they have seen some things go through, there hasn't been the silent acceptance they hoped for. In fact, the opposition to abortion is getting louder & louder. So they are trying to get things through as fast as they can before the electorate gets fed up & votes their supporters out of office.
So we must keep fighting. I have no problem with saying again, we need to start with prayer & undergird all we do with prayer. Esp important are the battle in the health care arena & the personhood movements that are springing up across the country. & we can't let any set backs stop us either.
The "culture of death" knows that its days are limitted. In the end they will lose, or our culture will be destroyed & God will raise up a new "culture of life" from the ashes. Either way, we still have to keep up the fight.
