I was just on break a few minutes ago & was flipping the channels. The big news: that Obama was just awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. That's right. He won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." In other words, the Nobel Committee has decided its not results that count any more, it is appearances. That offering false hope is more important than providing real hope. That promoting the killing of millions of unborn, elderly & a Hitler-esc eugenics is more important than saving lives.
Never mind the fact that the nominations closed on 1 February. Obama was president for less that 2 weeks. & the events the Committee talks about hadn't even occurred yet. I thought the prize was supposed to be awarded based on past events, not those that occurred after the nomination that there was no hint of before the nomination.
I have no idea who the other 250 some nominees were, but there had to be a lot of them, if not almost all, who were more deserving than Obama.
IMHO Obama got the prize for being black (gee isn't judging someone by skin color wrong) & the fact that he is a socialist. His winning & the way the Nobel Committee is fawning over him scares me. It shows that they are actively promoting a world-wide socialist dictatorship, not world peace. I am sure deserving winners like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Mother Teresa have got to be turning over in their graves.
1 of the ironies of this award is that Obama recently refused to meet with 1 of the previous winners, the 14th Dalai Lama in order to appease a socialist dictatorship, China.
Another irony is the fact that Obama is following in Jimmy Carter's footsteps, just like he is following Carter in how he is operating as president, a failure.
As I said, there have been a few deserving winners, like Lech Walensa & the above mentioned Rev. King & Mother Teresa. But over the last several decades the winners have been more those who fit into the PC liberal socialist elite mold of promoting a socialist 1 world government.
Like I said, I have lost all respect for the Nobel Peace Prize. & even though there wasn't much left to lose, it is clear that it will take a permanant 180 degree turn that lasts for a long time before I will even have a slight modicum of respect for the Prize.

As I said on LarryD's blog, if Jimmy Carter and Al Gore can win then Obama winning is no shock....but why hasn't Bill Clinton won one?
