Does PETA* Know About This?

* & I don't mean People Eating Tasty Animals either!!!!

Gateway Pundit over at 1st Things put up a post entitled Save Earth – Eat Your Pet. Yup, you read that right. He was talking about an article on stuff.co.nz (Save the planet: time to eat dog?) that I can only describe as the liberal elite trying to justify their actions while telling us to do as I say, not as I do. The article claims that researchers have found that "The eco-pawprint of a pet dog is twice that of a 4.6-litre Land Cruiser driven 10,000 kilometres a year." The researchers "assessed the carbon emissions created by popular pets, taking into account the ingredients of pet food and the land needed to create them."

"They compared this with the footprint of a Toyota Land Cruiser, driven 10,000km a year, which uses 55.1 gigajoules (the energy used to build and fuel it). One hectare of land can produce 135 gigajoules a year, which means the vehicle's eco-footprint is 0.41ha – less than half of the dog's."
Some of the results were: "German shepherds: 1.1 hectares, compared with 0.41ha for a large SUV.
Cats: 0.15ha (slightly less than a Volkswagen Golf).
Hamsters: 0.014ha (two of them equate to a medium-sized plasma TV).
Goldfish: 0.00034ha (an eco-finprint equal to two cellphones).
"
The results were published in a book entitled Time to Eat the Dog: The real guide to sustainable living.
OK, now it is wrong to have pets that give us companionship, comfort & many other things that can't be measured because the enviro-wackos want to have more control of our lives. Talk about fascism!

I think that I am safe in saying that this echoes the sentiments of many a pet as well as a good number of us pet owners & animal lovers who are sick & tired of all this PC enviro-BS that comes from the liberal elite who try & tell the rest of us how to live while doing whatever they want & using their money to buy "carbon credits" so they don't have to make the same sacrifices they expect the rest of us to make:

The more I see how these liberals don't practice what they preach, the more I am reminded of the ruling class in the Soviet Union. Or as the line in Orwell's Animal Farm says: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".
