As I said in my post about the Vatican announcement about the new set up aiding Anglicans who want to return to Rome (Pope Creates New Structure to Enable More Anglicans to Return to Catholic Church), I expected the news to be less than welcome by the dissidents who are out to destroy the Church. & I am already being proven right.
On Thursday the Non-Catholic Reporter posted a news release from Call to Action, 1 of the leading dissident groups out there. (An Open Letter to our Sisters and Brothers in Christ in the Anglican Tradition) From the start it makes it clear that they are anything but happy with the Vatican's decision.
"We greet you in the name of the One who unites us all. We were disappointed with the Vatican's announcement of a stream-lined process for Anglican conversion to Roman Catholicism for individuals and dioceses who do not support women's and LGBT equality."
1st of all, "in the name of the One" "The One"???? Why are they trying to turn God & in particular Jesus into a thing? (OK, purely rhetorical, I think we know why they are trying to depersonalize God.) Given their definition of God, I doubt that what they worship has anything in common with the 1 true God that is leading the Anglicans to cross the Tiber.
As for why they are disappointed, the rest of the letter makes it perfectly clear, they are unhappy that they are losing the battle to destroy the Catholic Church. & now they will have even more people joining the Church that will be on God's side, not theirs.
The next paragraph is an attempted slap in the face of those Traditional Anglicans whom they claim to be united to. "The Anglican tradition embodies a courageous history of seeking reform in the face of church injustice. In the last decades, you have built on that history and stood strongly in support of marginalized women, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in your faith tradition. We have watched and supported your struggles over the years to welcome all God's people equally to ministerial leadership. You should stand proud."
Call to Action applauds the very things that they Traditional Anglicans are rightly upset about, tells them they are wrong & should be proud of how the Anglican traditon has turned its back on God.
The rest of the letter is out & out lies trying to claim that the overwhelming majority of the Catholic Church is on Call to Action's side, when they know it isn't. The sources of the surveys they cite make it clear that they were clearly slanted. Contemporary Catholic Trends Survey) and 61% of U.S. Catholics believe that women should be priests (National Catholic Reporter Survey). They know that they will now be an even smaller minority when the Traditional Anglicans become Catholic.
But the ultimate proof of how delusional they are is this line: "We know the numbers are similar and growing in many other countries around the globe. The kin-dom is at hand."
There may be a few places where they are gaining ground, but they know full well that in places like Africa they are being rejected.
& yes, you did read it right, they said kin-dom not kingdom. That is their way of saying we are all 1 big happy family that can do whatever we want without having to answer for it. Sin is not sin & has no consequences is what it implies. As I said, delusional.
Also the term is their way of denying the Lordship of Jesus Christ. & we know what Scripture calls those who deny Jesus is Lord. AntiChrist. & that is exactly what Call to Action & the other dissident groups are.
They are not gaining, they are on the losing side of history, just as the Arians were. Back then there was a time when it seemed like the Arians would win out against a Pope & other leaders who stood up for the truth. The end result was the heresy lost, Arianism did not win. & these modern dissidents better realize they are heading the same way. May God have mercy on them.

Good job, Al. It's amazing how a group of 25,000 members can claim to speak for the entire Catholic Church. Thick with chutzpah, no?
