In recent days I have done several posts on comments made by Fr. Richard McBrien's promoting heresies & dissidence. As I pointed out in a
post back in 2006, Fr. McBrien was 1 of the 1st to be awarded
Human Life International's Millstone Award. Seeing his recent
actions has put me in mind of a scene from the various versions of
Scrooge/A Christmas Carol that is very apt to where Fr. McBrien is today:
Jacob Marley (explaining the chain he wore): "I wear the chain I forged in life. I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it."
Marley goes on to tell Scrooge: "Or would you know the weight and length of the strong coil you bear yourself? It was full as heavy and as long as this, seven Christmas Eves ago. You have laboured on it, since. It is a ponderous chain!"
Somehow or other, w/ Fr. McBrien's worldly, anti-supernatural mindset, I suspect that if a similar scene occured w/ Fr. McBrien not even Marley could convince Fr. McBrien that he was a ghost let alone get through to him about how much larger the millstone arround Fr. McBrien's neck has grown in the last 3-1/2 - 4 yrs.
It was a ponderous millstone back then, it is even more ponderous now. &, with how he is still going, Fr. McBrien seems intend on having the biggest one ever seen in Hell.
