Cardinal Mahoney Betrays the Unborn

Talk about 1 of the worst copouts since Pilate washed his hands of crucifying Jesus:

This is what he said: "This is way beyond my field. My field is immigration. I really haven't kept up on that, and I spend all my time on this other. You have to get somebody who spends time on that."
So basicly Cardinal Mahoney is doing the following things:
1: Taking a cue from Obama. The 1st line reminds me of Obama's beyond my pay grade line during the debates.
2: He has abdicated his responsibilities as a Bishop. No where does it say that a Bishop is supposed to limit his responsibilities to 1 area, in his case immigration. He has the moral responsibility to be up on that issue.
3: He has pretty much admitted that he is following the Pontius Pilate method of dealing with things he doesn't want to. He has basicly tried to wash his hands of any moral responsibility for abortion in health care. Sorry Cardinal Mahoney, it doesn't work that way.
I don't want to say Cardinal Mahoney is lying. But IMHO, I cannot believe he is so out of the loop as he claims to be. I think he is aware of what is going on. Esp since the health care issue does involve his area of expertise, "immigration". & I think he is avoiding answereing the question because he is willing to sell out the unborn for his agenda.
Then there is this bit. His response to being asked whether he believed abortion should be funded under the health care bill: "No, but that's what the president said, too, so."
Talk about a cop-out. Saying that it shouldn't is a far cry from being sure it isn't. As for what he is trying to imply, that Obama will be sure it isn't. He knows Obama's track record, he knows Obama has lied about abortion being in the health care proposals.
Has Cardinal Mahoney so sold out that he no longer has any conscience? How can he be so callous about the unborn that he blows them off like this. That is exactly what he has done. & like Lady McBeth, the blood won't come off his hands as easily as he would like. Does he really think he can use this excuse when he stands before God at judgement day?
Over the last few days in the Office of Readings for the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church, the 2nd reading has been taken from St Augustine's sermon On Pastors. I would be curious to know if Cardinal Mahony has even bothered with the Office & if he has, if he has even felt a twinge of conscience because of how far short he is falling.
I leave you with this quote from that sermon that was read on Wednesday: "Well then, shepherds, hear the word of the Lord!” What must you shepherds hear? Thus says the Lord God: behold, I am above the shepherds and I will call them to account for the sheep in their hands.
Listen, sheep of God, listen and learn: God will call the bad shepherds to account for his sheep and for their deaths. . . . .
You see, brethren? Do you see how dangerous it is to keep quiet? If you remain silent, you die; and rightly. You die for your impiety and sin – it is your negligence that kills you. He who has said, As I live, says the Lord might have found a living shepherd – but since the shepherd was negligent, not warning those he had been given authority over, those whose sentry he was, he will die justly and the sentry will be justly condemned." (I will grant that Wednesday was the feast of St Padre Pio & thus some may have opted for a reading from the common of pastors. But that doesn't mean every year there is a feast/memorial. In other words, Cardinal Mahoney, if he is actually doing what he should & praying the Office daily, he has had to have read this more than once.)

Anything outside immigration is not his job???? He is supposed to be a Catholic cardinal, or pretends to be. The rights of immigrants ARE important, but so is the deposit of faith, in which he has no interest except where it supports his political views.
