Sam Adams & the Sons of Liberty Would Say they Got Off Easy

The other day in their Op-Ed piece for USA Today Nancy Pelosi & Steny Hoyer wrote: "These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted "Just say no!" drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion." This appeared under the title of 'Un-American' attacks can't derail health care debate.

I would suggest they go back to school & study a little bit about what went on in Pre-War for Independence America. The events that were done in protest to how the British government included such things as the Boston Tea Party, the burning of HMS Gaspée in 1772, the tarring and feathering of Boston Commissioner of Customs John Malcolm four weeks after the Boston Tea Party, & Massachusetts colonial governor Thomas Hutchinson's city house was ransacked by a mob in August 1765 for starters. Compared to then, what is going on today with those who are protesting is downright peaceful. In fact, the only side I see doing things violently these days is the SEIU & other Obama enforcers acting like the British Army.

OK, I am not advocating violence, I want things to be dealt with as peacefully as possible. But maybe Pelosi et al better realize that the more violent actions came about when the colonial governors & Parliament refused to listen to their more peaceful attempts at resolving their complaints. Just like Pelosi, Obama & the rest of the Dems, as well as more than a few Republicans, are doing this month.
