Kodak is Doing the 1 Thing Rhymin' Simon Asked His Mama Not to Do

Take his Kodachrome away.

Yesterday Eastman Kodak announced that it was discontinuing the manufacture of its oldest film stock. Kodachrome was the world's first commercially successful color film. It was introduced in 1935. In 1973 Paul Simon immortalized it in song. & when the current stock runs out, it will be no more. A victim of the change to digital photography.
Paul Simon had to acknowledge Kodachrome as a Kodak trademark. In the 90s Kodak used the song in several commercials. So it worked out well for both Simon & Kodak. It still remains a popular film in the movie industry.
Probably the most famous use of Kodachrome came about when Abraham Zapruder used an 8 mm reel of it in Dallas on 22 November 1963. Zapruder was filming the Presidential motorcade when he caught President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
So in salute to all They those nice bright colors & the greens of summers that Kodachrome gave us here is Paul Simon & Kodachrome.
