CCCB Cover-Up of Their Funding Pro-Abortion Groups

At least that is what it looks like. Last March LifeIteNews reported that 5 of the Mexican partners of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (D&P) were involved in abortion advocacy.
Archbishop James Weisgerber, the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), has claimed that there is “no evidence” of abortion involvement on the part of groups funded by the bishops’ official development arm, D&P. (Canadian Bishops Conference Pres Says “No Foundation" for Allegations against Development and Peace)

Yet the Peru Bishops sent a letter to the CCCB in May that said these groups were. “It is very disturbing to have groups which work against the Bishops of Peru by attempting to undermine legal protection for the right to life of unborn children, be funded by our brother bishops in Canada,” says the 28 May letter. ("Stop Funding Pro-Abortion Groups in Our Country": Peru Bishops to Canadian Bishops )
So is Archbishop Weisgerber calling the Peruvian Bishops liars? Or is there an attempt at a cover-up? I suspect the latter. The CCCB was caught by LifeSiteNews & isn't happy.
In some ways this is similar to what happenned here in the US when it was discovered that the USCCB's Catholic Campaign for Human Development was funding ACORN. At least the CCHD acknowledged it & ceased their funding of ACORN. (CCHD ends funding to ACORN over financial irregularities)
The CCCB might want to learn a lesson from the USCCB & come clean.

I also have to add my thanks to LifeSiteNews for their hard work on this story. Anyone who regularly reads this blog knows how much I use them as a reliable source for Pro-Life related news. & this story just shows how important it is to have organizations like that out there who are doing the investigative work that no one else is.

Al, if you think the USCCB is infected with bureaucratic corruption and immorality, the CCCB up here in Canada is way worse. Recall: Canadian bishops, in outright defiance to the Pope's issuance of Humanae Vitae, countered with their "Winnipeg Statement", which effectively denied all that the encyclical propounded. This statement cannot be found on the CCCB website. I think that it should warranted excommunication for the signers. In the upcoming months I will perform an ideational assault on a Canadian, Gregory Baum, who was a priest (at the time), highly responsible for the wording in the Winnipeg Statement. He left the priesthood soonafter, latterly advocating Marxist liberation theology, and married an ex-nun.
This guy is an outright heretic and a theological criminal - and I will show this...

Thnax for the bit of background on the CCCB. Yes, I am familiar with the Winnepeg Statement. But wasn't aware of what happenned to the person beind it. Not too surprized to see where he ended up.
