How to Be Subversive In a Godly Way!

"I urge then, first of all that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving should be offered for everyone, for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live peaceful and quiet lives with all devotion and propriety." 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Even though we don't have a king, we are called to pray for our leaders. & that includes President Obama.
Last month, after the vigil Mass for the March for Life, Fr. Father Benedict Groeschel told John-Henry Westen something that he had previously said on his EWTN program: "I'm praying that the present Administration may fool them all and have a conversion. Why not pray for that?" He added: "And it’s interesting, that one of New York's prominent newspapers - we generally refer to it as the Gray Lady - has criticized Obama almost every day for four weeks for being too conservative. Isn't that an interesting turn of events? So let's see how that one plays out."
The next day, Joe Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League talked to a group of pro-life activists gathered for the March. Pointing out Obama's obsession with abortion, he called for people to pray for his conversion. "Anybody is subject to conversion. Because of his obsession, I think we have a chance."
Nellie Gray, the leader of the March for Life in Washington even held out hope that God would convert Obama.
Why not? Look at Saul of Tarsus & what happened to him. He became St. Paul & is the man God used to write the biggest part of the New Testament.
So, as I said, Why not pray for God to change Obama's heart so that he goes from the biggest promoter of abortion to the biggest defender of life?
Someone has even started a website to encourage people to commit to doing that very thing. Conversion: Change Worth Praying For has been set up so people can commit themselves to "offer prayer and sacrafice to Christ Jesus, in reparation for the lives of all of the holy innocents, who will be lost because of the policies of our government, and we seek the intercession of the holy innocents, all of the angels, saints, and martyrs for the conversion of President Barack Obama."
This isn't a long term commitment that is being asked. It asks you to make a commitment to a specific sacrifice & prayer for Lent or however long you want.
I've said it before, prayer must be at the heart of all we do. & here is an oportunity to be a part of what could really make this an administration of change. Even if you are already commited to praying for an end to abortion through 40 Days for Life, this isn't asking that much more. Lent is supposed to be a time of sacrifice, here is a chance to go the 2nd mile or even 3rd or 4th.
Like Saul, Obama is wrecking havoc by his actions to push greater access to abortion. As I said, God changed Saul to Paul & he could do the same for Obama. All God asks of us is to do what His Word tells us. Who knows what He might do if we respond? Given that Papa Benedetto has declared June 2008-June 2009 the year of St. Paul, in celebration of the 2,000th anniversary of the saint's birth, maybe a new & powerful advocate for the "Culture of Life" in the White House.
Change worth praying for
