Last month saw the largest looking full Moon of 2008. How do you follow that up? With the largest full Moon of 2009. Like that appearance, the Moon's appearance tonite will be about 14 percent bigger in our sky and 30 percent brighter than at other times in the year ahead. & like last month it will have a simliar effect on tides.
The 2009 Wolf Moon (as the January full Moon is usually called) being the largets means that it will all be downhill from here as far as size goes. But it does make for an appropriate event to help kick off the International Year of Astronomy 2009 .
