It is funny, but the same media who has been shouting how wonderful it is that we have elected the 1st black president (underqualified as he is) & that we are finally beconming inclusive & diverse seems to be ignoring what has been going on in Louisiana.
Last Saturday (2 Dec 2008) the 1st Vietnamese American, Cao Quang Ánh (Anh "Joseph" Quang Cao) was elected to the US Congress. Cao was born in Saigon (now Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) He will represent Louisiana's 2nd district. Oh wait, he is a Republican & a pro-life Catholic who defeated 1 of the media's darlings & a liberal Democrat, William Jefferson. The very same Jefferson who is under federal indictment for corruption & kept $90,000 in cold cash in his home freezer.
Then there is Piyush "Bobby" Jindal. In 2007 he became the 1st Indian American to be elected governor (or any other statewide office) in the USA. (His parents were from Khanpura, Punjab.) Oh yeah, another Republican & pro-life Catholic. (Even worse, he converted to Catholicism from Hinduism.) & his handling of Hurricane Gustav put his predicessor's handling of Katrina to shame. (Oh yeah, the media ignored her mishandling of things & put the blame on George Bush. Kathleen Blanco was a Democrat, remember.)
You can bet that the Main Stream Media would be applauding them both if they were Democrats & pro-abortion. But they aren't. They are the MSM's worst nightmare, proof that the Republican party isn't just a bunch of rich, bigotted, white guys determined to keep an uneven playing field for "minorities".
I guess that there is diversity & then there is diversity. At least that is the message the MSM seems to be promoting
