Ferry Cross the Mersey & then on to Abergavenny

OK, time for a little fun on a dreary rainy Saturday in DBQ.

Come Saturday Morning seems a good place to start, even if it is Saturday afternoon. This song was the theme for the 1969  movie The Sterile Cuckoo starring Liza Minelli. It is performed by The Sandpipers.

This is 1 of my all time favorite songs out there since I 1st heard it as a 9 year old lad in Oelwein. Ferry Cross the Mersey was written by Gerry Marsden. It was recorded by his band, Gerry and the Pacemakers, in 1964 at Abbey Road Studios. The producer was George Martin who also produced for another group of Liverpudlians, The Beatles.

Another song crossed the Pond in 1969 that also has been 1 of my all time favorite. Abergavenny was co-written by Marty Wilde & released here by Wilde under the pseudonym Shannon.

As I said this is a dreary rainy day, so why not close with the Cascades hit, Rhythm of the Rain?
