Adult Stem Cells Continue String of Successes
On Friday the Wall Street Journal reported that on 9 June 2011 at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, Stockholm a cancer patient has received the first synthetic windpipe transplant. The new windpipe was created using the patient’s own adult stem cells which were seeded onto a synthetic scaffold to grow the new tissue. The man is now cancer free & expected to live a full life.

1 of the arguements used to push the need for embryonic stem cells is the claim that they are pluripotent & thus can be used to produce any type of cell. They also say that adult stem cells can't be used because they aren't pluripotent & thus unable to differentiate as needed As you can see from the chart, that is not true. Adult stem cells can do everything needed from stem cells without the risks of tumors that have resulted from using embryonic stem cells. Also, by using a person's own stem cells, there is absolutely no risk of rejection. In addition, & most importantly, the use of adult stem cells doesn't require the killing of a human being like harvesting embryonic stem cells does.
Once again we see how empty the promises are for those pushing the use of embryonic stem cells. & we see how the use of adult stem cells is NOT "pie in the sky" futuristic maybes. Instead they are right now realities of cures & treatments.

But we don't get to kill anyone when we derive treatments from adult stem cells. No fun at all for our sociopathic scientists.

Patrick, sociopathic is an excellent term to describe them!
