Suggestion to Planned Parenthood for a New Sign - Over 5 Million Babies Murdered
In all its recent hype of how irreplacable Planned Parenthood is in providing women's reproductive & other health services they failed to mention a huge milestonen they reached in 2009. Sometime in 2009 PP murdered the 5 millionth child since it started doing abortions.
This fact was discovered last month by American Life League when they analyzed the numbers from the 2009 annual report. This number is based on all the available records that ALL could get ahold of.
Those records show that 1970 was the 1st year PP did abortions at any of its sites. that year they reported 100. That number went up every year with the exception of 1979-80 when the numbers declined. (See Jill Stanek's post for complete chart.) When the numbers were added up the total number of abortions done by PP came to 5,320,095 from 1970-2009. (By now with 2010's numbers it is probably over 5.7 million.) Of course this is assuming that PP is somewhat accurately reporting the numbers. Given how PP tries to play down abortion being the heart & soul of their business, the real numbers in recent years may be higher. I think it highly unlikely that they have inflated those numbers. Regardless, that number is not something to be proud about.
Family Research Coucil had some interesting comparisons to put that number into perspective. "After 10 years, our nation still hasn't recovered from September 11th. Imagine having a 9/11 attack every day for five years. That's how many victims we're talking about. Taking the lives of 5,320,095 children would be like dropping an atomic bomb on the entire country of Finland (5,380,400) or wiping out nine cities the size of Washington , D.C. (599,657). Can you fathom casualties that are double the population of the entire U.S. military (2,278,616)? Yet if we filled every grave with these tiny bodies, it would take 17 Arlington National Cemeteries (300,000) to hold them."
Pretty gruesome & macabre isn't it? Yet these numbers are only part of the story. In fact just a little over 10% of the story. Since Roe v Wade in 1973 it is estimated that over 52.86 million abortions have been done in the USA. & in recent years PP has become the largest source of abortions. In the past 15 years it has gone from committing 9.3% of all abortions in the United States to committing 27.5%. PP is not satisfied with that number. Remember that they recently announced every affiliate MUST have at least 1 site, if not more, that does abortions. & that the reality is, this is being done to up the bottom line.
This side of eternity we will probably never know how many of them were to cover up rape or incest or underaged prostitution. But we can be sure that it is a lot larger than the few "aberations" PP claims.
& despite claims to the contrary we the tax payers are underwriting abortions. The money they get for making things like mamograms available pays for the electricity, heat, rent etc thus decreasing the cost to do the abortion & upping the bottom line.
& even if PP was able to keep the moneys totally seperate, the fact they have killed so many people, covered up rape & incest & lied about what they do or don't provide is enough to make them undeserving of any of our tax money.
While you can be sure PP will continue to downplay the size of their abortion operation, you can also be sure that their goal is to grow that number. & if they can, to get our tax money to pay for them directly as well as indirectly.
But don't hold your breath waiting for them to put up a sign saying "over 5 million killed" any time soon.
