Good News - Baby Joseph Allowed to Come to USA

Baby Joseph Maraachi, who has been in the middle of a legal battle between the Canadian hospital & his family has finally been allowed to be transfered to an American Hospital.
On Sunday night, just hours before being taken off of life support according to Fox News, everything fell into place for him to be taken by SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. Fr. Pavone & Priests for Life who had an air ambulance standing by for several days now waiting for this moment. Baby Joseph & his father, Moe Maraachli, were flown there accompanied by Fr. Pavone. Bob Davidson, a spokesman with the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, said “Our physicians are examining Joseph to determine the best course of action.” An announcement will be made Tuesday morning about the treatment plan.
Priests for Life paid for the flight. They will foot Joseph’s U.S. medical bills as well as the cost of his family’s accommodations.
In a statement, Fr. Pavone told Fox News: "Priests for Life staff toiled through the night for many nights, working in concert with dozens of people to make this possible. Now that we have won the battle against the medical bureaucracy in Canada, the real work of saving Baby Joseph can begin."
In a statement on the Priests for Life website, Fr. Pavone said: “I knew, after this dragged on day after day, that I needed to be here myself to get Baby Joseph to safety. He needs to be in a hospital that cherishes life over the bottom line. After around-the-clock negotiations, this really became a race against time. If there is a chance this boy can live, we have to explore every option.”
While it is known that Baby Joseph suffers from a from a severe neurological disorder, his specific condition remains undiagnosed. Rather the hospital simply said he was in a permanent vegetative state with no brain stem reflex. Video proved that to be untrue. IMHO it simple sounded like the hospital didn't want to waste their time on any diagnosis or treatment. & their unwillingness to allow even the tracheostomy to let him be taken home raises questions about what were they afraid of.
Now a real diagnosis will be made. Even though Baby Joseph may not live for a long time, at least he will get the treatment he deserves & be surrounded by his loving family rather than suffocating to death as the hospital wanted.
In a news release London Health Sciences Center said: "Despite the strongest possible medical advice to the contrary from medical experts in Canada, the United States and Europe, the parents of Baby Joseph Maraachli have accepted an offer to transfer him by air to the faith-based Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri."
They went on to say: "The medical judgments about Baby Joseph made by LHSC physicians remain unchallenged by any credible medical or legal source. Those judgments remain supported by 9 pediatric specialists in Ontario as well as pediatric specialists in the U.S. and Europe, Ontario’s Consent and Capacity Board, and the Superior Court of Ontario, as being in the best interests of Baby Joseph."
" IMHO this whole statement reaks of being self-serving. They are trying to make it sound like their opinion was the only right one. If it was, no US hospital would have taken the baby. In fact they are basicly saying that Cardinal Glennon is not a credible medical facility by their willingness to take Baby Joseph.
It will be intersting to see what the doctors at Cardinal Glennon have to say later today. I suspect that they will not be in agreement with all the unnamed experts. & it may even be embarrassing to the Canadian hospital as it will show them wrong.
The Canadian hospital went on to complain that their doctors and staff “were targeted by well-organized social media feeds and directly via email with personal threats, threats to their families, innuendoes and falsehoods.” If there were any threats made, the people who did so were totally wrong to do so. I cannot condone any of the threats. However, I suspect the truth is while there probably were a very few that did contain threats, the vast majority of the e-mails were well intentioned & raised questions the hospital didn't want raised rather than they being entirely of the type the hospital claims they were.
I am sure the hospital was not happy that LifeSiteNews provided the contact information. But that info was for the CEO only. Any other names, etc was gotten totally seperate from anything LSN or the other groups involved did. LSN always makes it clear that the e-mails/letters etc should not be of the type the hospital claims. In fact it has a whole webpage on how to properly communicate (Composing Effective Communications in Response to LifeSiteNews Reports).

Priests for Life have released a short video of Baby Joseph at the hospital in St. Louis:

(Added 5:16 AM) Came across a link to a story about Baby Joseph from the Daily Mail, Right-to-die baby Joseph could undergo tracheotomy operation in U.S. hospital by end of the week. 1st of all, notice how they describe baby Joseph as a "right to die baby". This has nothing to do with any right to die. Another thing is they call Priests for Life a charity. Other than that, I will say that it was a fairly balanced report of the story.
