Marty Haugen Redux

Yesterday I put up a post on why music such as that by Marty Haugen doesn't fit with real liturgy (Definitive Proof Marty Haugan & Liturgical Music Don't Go Together.). Well, God in His Divine sense of humor let me know I was on the right track.
Sunday morning I went across the river for the 10 AM Mass at St. Mary's since they are having a Parish Mission led by the Community of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. After Mass I was talking to a friend of mine who occassionally goes to Mass there. She is a member of the Anglican Church in America which has been looking into Papa Benedetto's Anglican Personal Ordinariate. Her parish in DBQ recently closed so she goes to Catholic Mass. (& to put it bluntly, she has a lot deeper reverence for the Eucharist that 90%+ of the Catholics in this area.) She started asking me a couple questions about the missalettes used at various parishes. She knew some of the hymns used that day because they were classics, not the modern garbage used in most parishes. she said her only problem is she isn't familiar with Latin which was used at the Mass for the Hosanna & Agnus Dei chanting as well as 1 hymn, O Sanctissima.
Then she began to talk about 1 composer she didn't like whose name began with an M. She finally found 1 of his in the OCP edition used there. & if you haven't figured out by now, & to no surprize on my part either, it was Marty Haugen's works she didn't like. She was struggling to define what she didn't like about his music. so I said "Puerile?" & she said that was a good word for his music.
PS. Fr. Bernard gave an excellent homily & hopefully, I will be able to get to at least 2 of the sessions later this week.
PPS Her comments are even more proof, as if needed, that Papa Benedetto is on the right track for Christian Unity.
