Methinks PPECI Doth Protest Too Much

The other day I put up a post about how it slipped out that Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa was expanded "telemed abortions" to DBQ. (You Spin Me Right Round) Well, this week the spinning & denials continue. But what is also interesting is some changes in what is being said.
Last Sunday in the TH there was an article that talked about PPECI latest press release. (Planned Parenthood officials: No 'blueprint' for abortion care) That statement said: "It's not that Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa wouldn't like to have specific plans to provide abortion care to women in need --it's just that there is not currently a blueprint developed as to how exactly that could take place."
The original comments by Jill Vick stated that "(Barbara) Chadwick misspoke when she said that telemedicine abortion would be available in the Dubuque and Cedar Rapids health centers. . . PPECI has never been abortion providers in our 30-year history and PPECI has no plans at this time to provide abortion services."
Hmm, originally "no plans", now no "specific plans" that lay out a blueprint for "how exactly that could take place". So is Jenifer Vick admitting that there are plans in the works? & that a blueprint is under development, just not finalized? That is exactly what it sounds like to me.
Another part of the latest release seems to imply just that. "There are many considerations that would need to take place before implementing this service -- for example, approval by the PPECI Board of Directors is one action that would have to take place, and that has not happened." Yes, the PPECI Board would have to approve implimenting the service. But in order to do that, the Board would have to have a specific plan put before them. Nothing in what she says denies the fact that blueprints are in the works & that these "considerations" are being looked at to develop that blueprint.
Vick goes on to say: "I thought it was inappropriate to have any discussion with media regarding any future possibilities of offering the provision of abortion services unless plans were in place. That foundation has not been developed." Notice that she doesn't deny that they are working on plans, just that they aren't in place. The foundation may not be developed yet, but she as much as admits they are in the process of developing them.
I was talking a bit with Steve Brody of DBQ Co Right to Life about this earlier today. He told me that there was an article today @ LifeNews & that it included some statements by him about PPECI's latest statement. I agree wholeheartedly with his statement to LifeNews about what is going on. "Planned Parenthood is performing the old telemed two-step in order to try to have it both ways." Steve goes on to say: "Planned Parenthood can't handle the truth, and their 95-year history of lies, deceit, and manipulation proves it."
In talking with Steve we brought up a prime example of how PP lies, denies & misleads until plans are in place. I am refering to how they opened their Aurora IL PP site. Rather that use their own name, they got the construction permits under the name "Gemini Office Development." As the Chicago Tribune reported when the news came out it really was PP, Planned Parenthood had deliberately kept their plans "under wraps" in order to avoid objections from the pro-life community. In factPlanned Parenthood/Chicago Area CEO Steve Trombley was quoted as saying, "Frankly, I'm surprised we were able to keep it a secret for so long." Trombley admitted PP's lies & coverup to keep things secret as long as possible.
& then at a hearing to determine if an occupancy permit would be issued Pro-Life Action League reported: "Attorneys for the City argued that even by their own admission Planned Parenthood had tried to keep their identity secret, and their investigation ought to be allowed to continue. They produced the minutes of a November 16, 2006 meeting in which representatives of Planned Parenthood's Gemini subsidiary pretended not to know who their tenant would be, which the judge called 'obfuscation at best.'" (See The League at Ground Zero: Historic Pro-Life Battle Rages at the "Abortion Fortress" of Aurora, Illinois for more details)
For those of you unfamiliar with what obfuscation means (although I suspect you may have guessed) here is the free dictionary definition of obfuscate: "To make so confused or opaque as to be difficult to perceive or understand: 'A great effort was made . . . to obscure or obfuscate the truth'"
Mirriam Webster gives the following definition: "1 a : darken
b : to make obscure
2 : confuse
intransitive verb
: to be evasive, unclear, or confusing"
Lies, deceit, under wraps, just like what PPECI is doing these days here in DBQ. Nothing has changed. PP likes to present things as a fait acompli when they can. Unfortunately for PPECI Barbara Chadwick slipped up & let the cat out of the bag when Cecile Richards was in town last month. & when she did, Steve Brody was there & brought it to public attention, something they didn't want.
With the investigation into "telemed abortions" going on in Iowa. PPECI wanted things to be kept low key. They needed to figure out a way to get the expansion done without attention. & now the spotlight has made that difficult. Not impossible, just difficult. I suspect PPECI still has plans, just that they are on hold until the spotlight dies down. They also hope that the Iowa Medical Board rules in their favor. If they don't then PPECI & PP-Heartland who currently is doing them will have to come up with a way arround the Board, which might include going to court as they usually do when they don't get their way. & I won't be surprized to see the 2 Iowa PPs merge as that is the trend in the world of PP these days.
This latest statement of PPECI's strikes me as trying to divert attention. Why did they feel the need to issue a 2nd statement? & the only thing I can figure is that this is again PP doing what it does best, trying to misdirect by protesting in a way that tries to get you to look the other way. To borrow from what William Shakespeare once wrote: "Methinks Jenifer Vick doth protest too much!"*
