Nuns With Good Habits Meet Oprah

I have written 2 posts about The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist (Now, Here is a Good Vocation Crisis!, Nuns with Good Habits: Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist). From 4 members in 1997 they hve grown to nearly 100 members. Well, they are drawing attention from the secular world. Oprah is doing a show that looks at them. Naturally, she doesn't get it. Here is how she is marketing it:



But then given the fact that Oprah has had Joan Chittister on a past show as an example of a "modern nun" why should she? Sorry Oprah, the life of these sisters is a secret only to those who don't want to know the truth about what it truly means to be a Catholic Religious in today's world.

This will be a chance for people to acually see some real nuns who ARE faithful to the Magesterium. Even w/ the attempts by Oprah to sensationalize it, I a sure the Dominicans did their best to witness to their love of God & being true Brides of Christ. & they will see a surge of interest in joining from young women as well. I am also sure that Oprah will get some criticism from those who are not happy to see the truth about what a real nun is get out. & I am willing to bet that most of that criticism will be in the form of put downs. & that will simply be because they know they can't argue with the fact that God is blessing these Dominicans because they are faithful.

As an aside, today marks the 13th Anniversary of the founding of their community.
